I tend to agree with this one. the Oscars is about giving credit to their peers. That said, it has also become an arena where civil rights as a theme has become way too important. Another flaw is that they sometimes give credit due to past performances, such as actors that have had a strong career receiving one for the wrong movie/rather then people with stronger performances that year.
Out of curiosity I checked the winnners of best movie for the last 15 years, and had seen like 3 of them, mostly because I don't find them interesting/relevant.
