To understand why this is a major shift in stats preference you have to realize that before 3.0.8. crit had a really big impact on how much damage we dealt with HB and IT. Now it has sooo much less impact on this while haste (and hit) can influence it a lot more.

The gap between haste and crit gets a lot smaller and haste is becoming really important for a spellknight to maintain high KM procs.
Losing some crit to get more STR/AP also seems viable as most of our damage directly scales with AP.

The important thing is not that haste will become our new main stat (which it of course never will) but the fact that crit is significantly worse than it used to be, allowing us to replace some crit with other, more beneficial stats.
