Help to improve our DPSers requested.

    Hello

I hope this is the right forum for it, if it isn't, please feel free to flame me

Barbiegirlz is a 10man guild, we always strive to do better. But sometimes it is difficult with only a few officers in the guild to keep track of all classes/rotations/specs/gems/etc there are. And we would really appreciate if you guys could help us out here. I will link a combatlog from our latest naxx, and maybe some of you could skim it through and see if there is any changes needed on some people?

    Thanks in advance

Your dk needs to revise his rotation, stop hitting whatever is up when its up and actually focus on rune usage and use a good rotation. i.e.: for unholy use it-ps-bs-bs-ss-rp dump, ss-ss-ss-rp dump, and repeat(assuming he is using glyph of scourge strike). As far as the spec goes I can't really tell since he is in tanking gear and tried to spec tank.

Your warrior needs to revise his spec badly and change the abilities he uses. He doesn't bloodthirst or whirlwind nearly enough, and isn't specced into bloodsurge for the instant slams. He spams heroic strike even though his average hs hits for at least 800 less than his BT or WW and crits for 1500 less than his WW. In his gear there is no way in hell he should be getting out dps'd by a combat rogue, or needless to say be doing 2600 dps.

Your warrior should be doing around 3.2k dps on patchwerk with that gear. Bloodsurge is a requirement for fury warriors, tell him not to spam heroic strike as often either , only tanks need to keep heroic strike on constant lock down, as fury you don't want to use it that often tbh.

Re: Help to improve our DPSers requested.

The best thing you can do is lead them to dedicated forums and web sites for their class. I have found that people who don't have the drive to look things up don't have the drive to improve. While you can tell your death knight to switch his rotation and you might see some improvement it would be better if he understands why exactly he's changing it from more experienced death knights, ones that can prove the amount of dps his spec can provide in his gear with slight changes. I almost always find the better players are the ones that look stuff and understand why they are doing things they way they are, why this talent that looks like crap is better than this uber looking one, why this smaller hitting attack is actually better in the long run from the harder hitting one.

I made this list for a guild a while ago, I havn't updated in quite a while so it's probably missing some sites and some might not be up anymore but it's a good place to start.

Your warrior isn't using bloodthirst NEARLY often enough. I'm not an expert on Fury (I'm Arms) but when he's using bloodthirst as often as whirlwind, he's clearly not doing it right, as he should be using bloodthirst twice for every WW use. He needs to get Bloodsurge and use whatever's up as often as possible, with a priority towards the short cooldowns (WW, BT) and using instant Slam between those when possible.

Re: Help to improve our DPSers requested.

Thank you all for your input. I will have a speak with our warrior. Regarding the deathknight so is his specc depending on the raid alot. If he is "dps" he will specc into both the magic damage and the melee haste buffs. (sorry, as stated, I don't know as much as I should about all the classes)

Thank you for the list ccButch. I know of most of these sites allready, and so do most of the guildmembers. I just have serious issues getting people interested in visiting them. And as a 10man guild good players are hard to come by so I can't really threaten to replace them either

    Any suggestions?

You can't force people to visit sites, you can only make them fear that if they don't they wont be raiding. Pick up a new player of the same class of the person not working on their dps. You'll be amazed how quickly they start to care.

And here lies our problem. We are finding it quite difficult recruiting decent players for a 10-man Guild. People just don't seem interested in bothering with 10-mans when Blizzard are screwing up. But let us not go offtopic, still in need of a few more pointers. Possibly to do with the Mage(s) DPS?

I don't see any huge issues with your mages. They are by no means pulling low dps, at least not in comparison to their gear, I wouldn't think. I'm not a mage though.

Your paladin, while he is a tank, should be pulling a lot more dps, and thus tps, than that. I easily pull 2.5k on Patchwerk 10 man. I can't see his gear because he logged out pvp specced, but I am a middle-of-the-road geared tank, only having a couple best-in-slot items. Tell him to look up the 969 paladin threat rotation. Tell him to use devo aura instead of ret too, the extra armor is nothing to sneeze at, and 3% healing to the raid is much better than ~200 damage from a single target on melee hits.

Tanks are usually good about flasks/food buffs. Dps can be lazy. Make sure they're flasked and someone is providing a Feast (or other food).

Re: Help to improve our DPSers requested.

i just want to say... i've actually seen some BAD warrior advice in this thread. A) with the new whirlwind glyph, WW has an 8 second CD... fairly close to BT's. You won't be using 2x BT / 1x WW, more like 1.5. Additionally, one guy said that your warrior shouldn't be using HS very much as a fury warrior... that's just untrue. I actually just posted this in another thread... just ignore the parts specifically talking about their warrior. The only thing about HS'ing, is it is very rage intensive... if your warrior's hit is low, THEN he would need to HS less... but it really isn't about 'you should HS X times in a Y length fight', it's more about making sure you've always got at least 40 rage... if he drops below 30-40 rage, he should stop HS'ing until his rage builds up higher again. In higher gear levels, you can almost HS spam an entire fight and it really brings up your DPS a LOT.

    See below for the post:

I'm not sure if you're still readin this or not, but I didn't really see any constructive warrior information for your deeps warriors.

I didn't go so far as to check specs or gear, if your fury warriors want a good base spec they can check Phenaum on Twisting Nether (in Frostwolf Legion). My spec is very slightly hybridized to allow for some arenas but i didn't take any points out of any important talents. The main thing that some would go for are maxing out Weapon Mastery and Imp Execute.

The main points with fury warrior dps are keeping everything on cooldown at all times, prioritizing strength/ap before anything else (in that order... Str is slightly better than AP because it scales with buffs like Blessing of Kings) making sure to use every single bloodsurge proc you have as soon as possible, getting in as many heroic strikes as you can, and knowing when execute is not the best thing to spam.

    1) Cooldowns - This is self explanatory... your whirlwind shouldn't be available for 10 seconds before you decide to use it. Keep everything on CD.

    2) Str prioritizing - each point of Str gives a warrior 2 AP, and this directly effects all warrior abilities, some heavier than others. Slam scales better with AP than almost any spell in the game, so each boost of str/ap will increase your slam damage by quite a bit. Bloodthirst is also directly effected by this at a ratio of 45% AP = dmg, and BT is not effected by weapon damage, so you really want to jack your AP up as high as possible to make sure that one of your bread and butter abilities isn't underperforming.

    3) Bloodsurge - This basically gives you access to an ability you wouldn't ever use otherwise, in Slam. The best thing you can do as a fury warrior to keep up with this is find some mod to track when you have a Bloodsurge proc. I use Scrolling Combat Text. There is a section in the configuration of the mod where you can program custom alerts, so I have a big red text alert in the middle of my screen that says Slam NOW!!! every time i get the bloodsurge proc. The buff you are looking for, when your bloodsurge talent is procced, is called 'Slam!'.

    4) Heroic Strikes - This isn't exactly a secret, but it's one of the markers of a warrior who knows their class. The fastest way to increase your damage is to increase the # of heroic strikes you are using. If you look at my WWS Parse from last night's Naxx, listed below, you will see that I had about 40 Heroic Strikes. You may also note that this was accomlished in the span of 2:40, a little over half the time of your patchwerk kill. Your warrior, Cassinden, only managed to Heroic Strike 24 times in almost double the fight length... i'm guessing i HS'd about 300% more than he did if the fights were equal in duration.

There are 2 main reasons to use HS as often as possible:
1 - It adds damage to your white hit... why wouldn't you use it?
2 - It makes your white hit a yellow hit, which means you are now using the special hit cap (8%) instead of the swing hit cap (somewhere around 20?), which is why out of 40 HS's, i didn't miss a single one, but i missed 6.5% of white hits. A yellow hit also negates the 'glancing' mechanic, which can be a major dps loss if allowed to run rampant on your white hits.

    5) Execute spam is kind of 'meh' at higher gear levels. Your warrior may still see benefit in spamming execute after 20%, i'm not sure... but my executes hit about as hard as my other yellow attacks, and take up a LOT more rage to do it. The only fights i execute spam on are Loatheb and Thaddius, due to seeing 14k Executes commonly in those fights due to high rage / high damage multipliers. Keep in mind, I am not specced or glyphed for improved executes, which may change this information. I feel like i'd be speccing/glyphing for a niche if I did that though, and i'd rather just maintain my normal dps 'rotation' until 0%, since it's already fairly strong.

Re: Help to improve our DPSers requested.

well i ahve a few comments for mages

I think your scorcher is slacking abit and not keeping scorch up , kept it up on thaddius (assuming fight lasted 4 minutes) but not on patch only 3 cast on patch, he needs to cast at least 2 to start off with and keep it up till the boss which would be about 11 for a 5 minute fight , and may want to look into ToTW fire spec...

arcane mage is using a different spell rotation to the one i used when i was arcane, with his gear tho he should n't have mana issues and shoudl consider looking into a better rotation, i did and found an extra 200 dps. i found the best rotation to be ArBlast x3, ArBarrage (replace with AM when it procs) etc
