    Yay new patch! Oh wait....

So anyone else having issues logging on, I.E. the game is trying to install an update that doesn't exist?

Thought I'd check here to see if how people are going around and getting the game to work.

Just happened to me; GF's comp however installed fine and worked... but mine stopped at 45%, froze, cancelled installation, and now won't login or install...

Alright, here is what I did on Vista.

Right click on C:\Users\Public\Games\World of Warcraft\Wow.exe (or wherever you have it installed, this is the default) and open it TWICE, both times as an Administrator.

You'll be brought to the WoW log on screen. Enter your log on information on BOTH screens, until you get to the "Updating Patch" screen.

Leave BOTH screens up- One screen will say "Restart Required", do NOT hit the Restart button. What this does is cause the other WoW screen to load the patch normally. After you have loaded the patch, Alt + F4 the "Restart Required" screen and you should be fine logging in.

Just start the frickin launcher. It's there for a reason.
(also, even if you play a paladin, this is probably the wrong forum)

    Yeah i understand that.

It is also only affecting a minuscule of people, and hence why there is no "official" solution to this problem yet.
