teir 9 set bonus or badge gear

Hey guys I'm coming back to wow after a 9 month break, and it looks like the badge gear I can get is better stats than the teir 9 I can buy with badges. is the set bonus really worth it for a arcane mage or should I go for best in slot?

The best possible combination, in terms of raw dps, is 4pt T9, with Merlins Robe as your chestpiece.

Yes the head/shoulders non-tier are a higher itemlevel, but they dont give 5% crit on your 2 main spells (Blast/Missles).

Or, if you can't afford Merlin's Robe you should get the 245 ilvl shoulders (spirit and haste, not hit and crit) and the rest t9.

Get Abyssal Rune from ToC5 normal and Tears of the Vanquished from emblems.

Tears of the Vanqueshed?? doens't that drop in toc as well and the stats don't look so great......
