Mwah, not really impressed. I'm apparently also one of the few who just hates these 'Soilwork' type of clean vocals. Sound so lame. It's modernised MDM, easier to get into.

Regarding black metal, typically I prefer symphonic black metal. One of my favourites remain Agathodaimon.

    One of their first albums:

    Compared to their last:

    I like them all!

The very first Agathodaimon (Blacken the Angel) is actually also one of my all time favorite albums. It is very good to be honest, but I understand this type of black metal isn't everyone's cup of tea. I quite enjoy all of Agathodaimon's work, even though the band has gone through some massive changes over the years. Talked to their guitarist Sathonys a couple of times way back.

One of my favorite Agathodaimon tracks:

    This album is out now.

Haven't fully listened to it yet but so far the track called 'Vakuum' is awesome, it's just not on youtube. It's on Spotify though.

Wouldn't mind to see them play with Ne Obliviscaris

And absolutely not metal, but seeing how some folks here may well enjoy Igorrr's antics and it involves several of the same musicians, I want to share this absolutely beautiful piece of music here as well:

Don't even remember it and I own the album. Haven't listened to it for years and I think it is their single worst release. (Barring, possibly, some of their new stuff which I didn't bother to listen to.)

What did you think of Vakuum? When that part at 5 minutes kicked in, all I could do was drop everything else I was doing and completely focus on it. Gives such a great atmosphere, I love it.

Vakuum was one of the better songs. "Drop this Planet of Dust" for instance didn't really appeal to me. Overall I quite liked the album but would need to listen to it more.

Axioma Ethica Odini is probably the worst of the recent releases. That was just so overblown and overproduced. Iirc, In Times was surprisingly okay after I first dismissed it. Riitiir I don't remember other than it giving me a craving for Ritter Sport chocolate. The proggy / Pink Floyd side really turned me off Enslaved though. Where I first was really impressed with Vertebrae, I now rarely listen to it anymore. It's really good at what it does, it's just so incredibly flat. There's no depth to be discovered and after a little while you just have figured out the whole album.

I think that's exactly why I dislike Mardraum. That's where they really started the transition from their frostbitten sound to the more proggy stuff. And they just didn't get it quite right just yet.

Personally I just prefer stuff like Eld, Frost and Blodhemn.

    Frost is GOAT Enslaved imo

Eye of Solitude reminds me of Woods of Desolation, except that it sounds very boring. Just some ambient sounds is what I get from it. Meh.

Anyone listened to the new Kambrium album yet? It's fucking awesome.

Wacken livestream for the next three days. Some pretty big names in it.

    New Dream Theater album.

EDIT: Having listened through it a bit...felt like it didn't have any edge. So soft.

I don't know if all your favorite stuff is on those lists but having gone through them several times I can say it's definitely not just "mainstream".

Another new thing for me, Deadlock - Hybris.

    Album here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDKe...wGtf_ErVraWscw

If it's on Youtube, blame Youtube.

Heroes impressed me, Personally my favorite is '' Far from the Fame ''

I listened to the new sabaton songs on the new album, and i wasn't impressed. '' The lost Battalion & Blood of Bannockburn ''
Hopefully the rest of the album is better, for me atleast.
