I know this will get mixed responses from the community, but I was thinking of some changes to mage talent trees and glyphs that would really improve some things for PvE. I know changes are coming in cataclysm, but hey, can't a guy dream.
1)Make focus magic a trainable spell for all mages.
2)Make the scorch debuff last longer, but only be able to be on one target at a time. Mangle debuff is getting upped to 60 seconds, and Faerie Fire lasts 5 minutes. 30 seconds is just annoying.
3)Get rid of torment the weak. For fights with adds, etc. it's a crappy talent design. When its up it's great, when its not, it sucks, particularly when combined with the fact that we already need the moonkin/warlock/unholy dk debuff for 13% more spell damage. We should not be that dependent on other people to do maximum damage. In order to compensate for this, I have the following ideas:
a) For arcane, change glyph of arcane missiles to: Increases the damage of arcane missiles by X% to all targets > Level 80.
b) For fire, first revamp molten armor to give a % of intellect as crit to an amount necessary so that they can get rid of glyph of molten armor all together. Buff fireball and pyroblast by a slightly higher amount thru empowered fire talent. Create a new "Glyph of Pyroblast": Your hotstreak procs will increase the critical strike damage of the next pyroblast by X%. (Pyroblast should hit hard, harder then fireball, and who doesn't love huge numbers?)
By removing torment the weak, this would allow fire specs access to icy veins and precision, which would give fire the on demand burst it is currently lacking, and reduce the amount of hit needed on gear.
Thoughts? BTW, If you don't play a mage, don't leave useless trolling responses please.
