a few weeks ago, i posted here about my computer, which according to Cilraaz has faulty memory. now, because i'm using a laptop and probably will buy a new one in the easter holiday, it would be too expensive to bring it in or even replace the memory.
what i want to do (if it is possible) is disabling the access to the faulty addresses. now, i don't know the addresses that are faulty yet (mainly because i have not yet found time to run the windows vista-7 built-in memory test), but when i do know them, could there be a way to tell the system: do not copy data to those RAM addresses?
Re: is it possible to disable certain RAM addresses?
Not to my knowledge. The usual course of action is to remove RAM sticks until the offending stick/slot isn't being used. I'm not sure how possible that would be in your situation.
