Could you help me find a new computer?

Hello, I've been on this site for a long time now, just never did any posts or anything.. and now I have a question!

As I know a lot of the people here are very well with computers I thought, why not ask them!

So here's the deal; I have roughly 500$ or less to spend on a brand new computer. I've looked around myself but I'm unsure what is good, and what is bad in terms of what I need it for, which is to play wow, and run 25M raids at least with 10-20FPS.

I need wireless built-in, primarily, or a cheap alternative such as a network card w/antenna(if they still have those), or a USB..
    Also a cheap monitor..
I found a moderately good computer at Bestbuy, but it did not come with a Monitor, or wireless networking card.

If you don't want to search for me, please just tell me what brands I should be looking for, like Asus, or Acer.. what brands for GPU, or Processor, or computer, or monitor! Blah, thanks! =s
I appreciate any help with this!

Why waste so much money. Save up more and buy a useful computer instead.

Well with only $500 to spend on both a computer and monitor, you will be lucky to find one with a dedicated video card. As long as it has a semi decent dedicated video card, it will run 25 mans with the performance you mentioned. If you are able to find anything good then post back here and we can give you feedback on it. The only websites I recommend are cyberpower and ibuypower but those are way out of your price range. A semi-decent build on there costs around $700-800 without a monitor and operating system, which is twice the amount you have to spend.

Junk CPU. Several generations old and only 2.3GHz.

On-board video that would be unlikely to handle WoW at more than minimum... and even then, with horrible framerate.

    Frankly:

[edit: Just noticed this as well:

Wireless for your desktop? I'm not sure why you're trying to gimp yourself so badly. Wireless internet injects higher latency and random disconnect possibilities.]

I use wireless over running a long cable across several rooms, but if it isn't necessary, wired is always better.

Well if you must choose one, go with the second build for sure. At least it's a dual core Athlon and it's not terribly slow (2.8GHz). Only thing it lacks is the graphics card, which you could add but you also might have to upgrade your PSU as well. There are some graphics card which do not use a lot of power but provide decent performance, but it all depends on how much room that PSU has.

like others have said. Best thing to do is save up a little more and invest in a better system. If you want a system right now for 500 bucks to play wow then you will probably have to upgrade again when cataclysm comes out. A couple of sites you can use to look for good deals are www.newegg.com (sometimes they have refurbished systems at amazing deals) and www.tigerdirect.com . The bare minimum you want is a Dual core CPU, with 2 GB ram, 80 GB hard drive, 256 MB videocard (going to be hard to find a system with anything other than onboard video for 500)

for 600 bucks you can get http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16883227223 one person left a review saying he gets 25-30 fps with ultra settings in wow.

    Good luck with your hunting.

friend of mine said he got 20fps in dal, which is a lot better then I get, with default settings.. I currently play with all settings down, windowed 800x600 and get 15 or less in dal

Re: Could you help me find a new computer?

Doubtful. That is basically integrated graphics and a complete waste of money.

Re: Could you help me find a new computer?

If you get 20 fps in dal that means that you can only dream about raiding because you definitely won't be able to do it.

Re: Could you help me find a new computer?

You are simply not going to be able to get a computer that runs WOW efficiently for $500 (including keyboard/monitor/mouse/case). You need a decent video card. The cheapest would be around $900-$1000. You could try HP or Ibuypower if you don't want to build your own system.
"The round, metal cooking utensil referring to the larger, cookware customarily used for, but not limited to, stews, as being of a dark shade or possibly of African descent." ~~ Fixed for now. But keep in mind any one of the words used in that fix may become politically incorrect or offensive at any moment for any reason. Further amendments may be required to prevent frivolous lawsuits in the future.
