Hunters Pets and Leveling

I was wondering if the pets XP gain is shared off what we get while leveling? Cause my pet seems to level when i do, i just thought i ask

If your pet is 5 levels behind you. The pet will level when you to make sure it doesnt drop below 5 levels.

But if you are leveling, and your pet is level 34 and you are level 34, and you ding. your pet will still be level 34 and you will be level 35. It will start gaining experience again and after a while, will ding to level 35.

What dag said. Your pet is exp hard capped at the level you are at. It will have zero, or what ever carry over amount from the last level, and will not gain any more until you are at least one level higher than it is.

Pets take around 1/10th the amount of exp that hunters do in order to level, but they don't get exp when you quest. So they will match your level fairly quickly, but as was said below, they don't start gaining exp unless they do not match your level
