    Feral dps question

Hi, I am a new Feral dps and just have a question that I cannot find the answer to.

The scenario is: Mangle is provided by Feral tank, SR is up with 15secs, Rip has 6 seconds (all glyph charges used) and Rake has 2 seconds remaining. I currently have 5 combo points, TF is down and have 10 energy.

Is it better to let Rake expire and wait the 6 seconds to reapply Rip OR apply Rake once it expires even though I already have 5 combo points. (Also assume I have the 4p T10 bonus).

I'm just trying to get a better feel for the rotation, I have gotten better at knowing when it is ok for me to squeese in a FB w/o losing more than 6 secs of Rip time.

    Thanks for any help!

I would guess you should reapply rake, the damage done should outweigh the combo point loss.

I agree with Bavarcarus, althought, it's not really an agree/disagree sort of thing, it's a mathmatically correct/incorrect question. In my time playing the game I have found combo points to be at a lower priority than any of your normal dots/buffs/debuffs. Unless you're talking about split seconds, reapply your debuffs. You're aiming for 100% uptime on all of them.

It doesn't matter at all if you have 5 CP's - if something falls off you need to replace it.

Just like if you were in the same situation but Rake wasn't going to fall off for say 8 seconds, and you were approaching 100 energy - it would be best to just Shred while you're waiting for Rip to expire (remembering that you regenerate energy at 10 EPS, but usually higher due to Revitalize).

Thank you for all the comments, I will make the change asap

In general I dislike using FB, the energy cost vs dmg is so ridiculously stupid that I prefer just using shreds, I rarely even use FBs when berserk is up, berserk is my shred-spam-forever CD.
Your scenario: re-apply rake, then get rip back up after that. Clipping rip isnt >that< bad but no need to either if you dont have to, so let it go to the end then re-apply but keep rake on.

Does any one have the link to the John $#&%ing Madden flow chart for feral DPS? That might help.

40 energy for 30k + of damage vs 42 energy for 20k? no offense, but assuming you're dps'ing in ICC you really should go back and read some faq's

Anyway if your having issues with your rotation a suggester would be helpful in knowing which ability is better to use at different points. Something like Ovale (Curse.com) [using using Fluid Druid's script] or FeralByNight Light (Bitbucket source code)

... You don't do 30k dmg with 40 energy. You do 30k dmg with like 75 energy. The top feral on 25 heroic Saurfang had his max crit of 35k. I would guess that was during his DBW Str proc.

Pask had 2 FB's averaging at 39k each, they may or may not have been during his 2 Hysterias and 4 ToTT. (I'm not badmouthing you Pask, just guessing at how you may have gotten monster bites)

Not using Ferocious Bite is not uncommon. You're probably only going to get 1 or 2 off a fight. If you're not good at recovering from big screw ups then you should avoid it. Otherwise, work on it.

Also, saying "no offense" doesn't make you not offensive. Just makes you sound conceited.

3 of our kitties with 30k bites.. i don't always get FB at 40 energy, but its never close to 75. not sure about the other two, but they know to not use it with a lot of energy

The answer here is simple, when rake falls off you have 30 energy, so you must wait 0.5 seconds and reapply rake. At that point you have 2.5 seconds until Rip falls off, which is conveniently enough time for you to get 25 energy and apply a 5cp Rip. This is the perfect situation to be in, not sure what is so hard about it.

My personal best on saurfang, had 7 ferocious bites averaging at 33k from such amazing omen procs, and i get no hysterias no tricks and don't have DBW. grr to our tank dk giving hysteria to the warrior.
