Or they can keep cleave and intercept as is and give the Felguard some utility, they already made him the pet of choice for demonlogy and we lose the awsome abilities of the other pets like Spell lock and charm, if we are going to be forced to use the felguard then they need to give it some utility.
If they want to be lazy and leave him almost as is then buff his damage even more to make up for that utility loss:P
Maybe because they had to give the succubus something other than the crummiest CC in the entire game to justify her existence? (And no, idling in town with succubus spanking herself isn't a warlock pet niche), felguard is the only choice for the entire demonology tree, can DPS, can take a few hits without dying, what more do you want for it? :P
I don't think we need it
Though the spells of the pet should give more utility
let say each pet has 4 good spells,
4 pet will give 16 spells, though only 4 will appear for each pet
of course, these spells must be useful too
giving each of them a bunch of talents seems to be too complex
in my opinion, I would rather see better spell than talent
Just a tiny, lore-riding comment.. A warlocks "pets" are minions, not pets..
Other than that, I cannot see why giving Warlocks minion-talents, would be a good idea. Hunters have to find, level and spec their pets the "right" way. Warlocks simply add a little utility to themselves, through a minion that is already specialized. Truth be told, I've always thought my hunters pet-talents were a little "meh". *shrug*
Pets - Minions. Minions - Pets. Glad you finally meet.
Warlock minions already come prepacked - at max level - with 4 special abilities, they don't need talent trees. Hunter pets get the standard growl(& cower)/claw(or alternative form thereoff) and a family pet skill - some better than others -, on top of that they can add a maximum of 5 active interesting special abilities, but more realistically 3 to 4.
Seeing as the warlocks minion their abilities are already closer to the family pet skill or the talent skills, I really don't see a justification to add talent trees to them as well, unless the minions would be stripped of 3/4 of these abilities, and warlocks had to spec for them, and make the same exercise a hunter has to make.
This would of course defeat the object of having distinct demons to choose from for specific roles which is entirely contrary to the lore behing each demon type; a Succubus should not be tanking, and a Felhunter should not be casting Firebolts. Our demons already cover all the niches that need to be covered, adding talents will either mean throttling them so they become even more specialised and less useful as to become pointless, or expanding their individual abilities so as to become overpowered and we depend on them for too much - and there is a train of thought that says this is actually already the case.
They each serve a specific role already, with considerably more utility than hunter pets do, despite their talents which for the most part offer little more than survivibility or dps boosts.
I agree, but this thread is about adding talent points to warlock minions, to which I already voted no. I'm just saying if talents were to be added, minions ought to lose their direct access to the abilities they already have, which for the most part are already equal or better than those of hunter pets (depending on which you compare them with). Adding talents to warlock minions wouldn't necessarily mean that they would lose their unique niche -the Voidwalker could get a mini tanking tree and the succubus could get a mini utility tree, etc. - but you're also right again that this would create the risk of overspecialising these pets, and making warlocks overly dependent on them.
