which cloak?

so i'm DW frost DPS and currently have http://www.wowhead.com/item=50467 equipped. i just won http://www.wowhead.com/item=50653 from ICC25 and was wondering if this would be a DPS gain. both are gemmed with +20STR gems and enchanted with +23haste. anyone with some advice?

Well, you have entirely too much expertise. If you don't have any other appropriate pieces to swap around and drop some expertise then the 277 will prob be better.

Might of the ocean serpent is pretty much the best cloak available unless your gear set has too much expertise.

if i'm not mistaken, AGI gear is kinda meh for a DK.

and why are you socketing a yellow socket with a +4 str bonus with +20 STR instead of 10STR/10crit(or haste, whatever)? or is frost one of those specs that doesn't care about socket bonuses?

LOL giving advice without knowing the class? Rackin' up those post numbers huh. ;-)

Anyways, I personally would stick with the Str due to the ArPen on it. Once you get 2 Bloodvenom Blades, you probably could go full ArPen Gems.

Shadowvault Slayer's Cloak is fine but Might of the Ocean Serpent is better due that you will get the arp and expertise from it. you should try to go for the cloak that drops off Rotface 25 man http://www.wowhead.com/item=50677 (Winding sheet) as that is currently the best cloak in game for Frost DKs.

Eh, if you're using all the expertise or ArP from Ocean Serpant It will end up being better.

This depends on every other piece of gear you have on however.

Even so, unless you have both H DBW and STS I doubt you can get enough arpen without having some on your cloak.

Look at this wrong post.

Armor Penetration is by far the most important stat for frost if you can get near the cap, followed by strength. Haste and crit are both low with EP values of ~2.0 (depending on the rest of your gear).

There is almost never a situation where haste will be better than armor penetration, unless you need to bring yourself down from being way over cap.
