How does threat from thorns work?

Just kinda wondering how it works. Does it cause decent threat? If im a bear and cast it on myself, will it help aoe threat? If im resto and cast it on tank, does it give threat to me or the tank? I apologize if this is a noobish question, I just dont know and it seems like good info to have.

it gives aoe threat to the target it is cased on, only if the target is directly hit by melee attacks.

so if you are a restoO druid and put it your tank then yes the tank gets more threat
