    Elemental shaman reforging?

I'm thinking how I should reforge my gear, I heard that we should aim for around 16 mastery?
Atm I got 46%+ crit and 23%+ haste.. So getting that I should offer all my crit for mastery?

http://totemspot.com/2010/10/4-0-1-elemental-guide/ Has a section on reforging.

I've been fooling around with everything since last night.
Here is my shaman (obviously I am far from BiS, ele is my 3rd offspec):
    http://www.wowarmory.com/character-s...cn=Shockrateez

I changed all of my crit to mastery:
    (unbuffed)
    SP: 3377
    Crit: 38.02%
Haste: 892 (I think i want to raisw this a little)
Mastery: 19.36 (38% chance to proc EO)

Because of the rampant amount of spirit on gear, you may have hit you dont need that you can reforge.

crit is worth the least given that you will lvb more. so the easiest stat to reforge to mastery is crit.

I reforged every bit of excess Spirit or Hit that I could (I was about 25-27% +Hit, so yeah...lol) and burned it all into +Mastery I believe.

I got mastery on everything i could much much better then before.
    *zips*

This is from [4.0.1] Elemental Resources - READ FIRST

    1. If you're over the hitcap, reforge hit/spirit to mastery
    2. If you're under the hitcap, get more hit gear! Gem Int/Spirit (purple) in a few gemslots. Afterwards, if you have to, reforge crit to spirit on as few items as possible to reach cap
    3. If an item has mastery/crit on it, reforge crit to haste
    4. If an item has mastery/haste on it, leave it alone
    5. If an item has haste/crit on it, reforge crit to mastery
    6. If an item has haste or crit alone (like trinkets), reforge it to mastery

I reforged all my crit to mastery. It seemed the logical thing to do.

Obviously you don't want to be over the hit cap so you want to reforge excess hit to mastery. The only thing I am not sure about is if mastery is better than haste. What Darcam says seems to be right.

In that totemspot guide he takes convection instead of 2/2 elemental reach. I really recommend not doing that. I can keep hitting a training dummy forever because you don't go out of mana. You don't need to use thunderstorm and I didn't use any external buffs.

I did up to 16 mil damage to a training dummy and at the end I was at full mana.

You have to be in range to drop searing anyways, so until 85 where we can get imp totem range elemental reach is worthless (come to think of it, it will even be worthless then).

On a training dummy. You really want to move more on, for example, Marrowgar? And dropping searing totem in range all the time on that fight is quite pointless isn't it?
You can take elemental warding if you want to lose dps.

My mistake, I thought the only way to do awesome dps was to chase bosses around a room with Searing Totem down. /sarcasm off.
Lets take a look at the fights where reach is useful?

Lord Marrowgar (yes to a degree)
    Lady Deathwhisper (no)
    Gunship Battle (no)
    Deathbringer Saurfang (no)
    Festergut (no)
    Rotface (no)
    Professor Putricide (possibly)
    Blood Prince Council (yes)
    Blood-Queen Lana'thel (no)
    Valithria Dreamwalker (no)
    Sindragosa (no)
The Lich King (Possibly depending on your heroic strat)
    RS (no)

    So 3 maybe 4 fights.

That's a bit subjective though, isn't it? It depends on where you have to stand, and in my old guild I was always stuck at long range on LDW, Saurfang and Festergut hcs.

On topic, excess hit and crit to mastery seems the best solution.
Unless you somehow have low haste ofc.
