Pretty much anything by Public Enemy can be counted as my favourite, as that's the only hip hop I listen to. That, and Akala. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gme1YN-qZV8 (Linked to Clean version, uncensored is on related videos)
come out with your hands on your heads, you are surrounded by armed bastards
Hard to give a favourite rap song, there are far too many to choose from. I'd have to say though my favourite rapper is Percee-P I challenge anyone to listen to that song and call rappers talentless.
Also Big L is a top lyricist with a deceptively laid back style. Got to love the DITC production too and I can't not give mention to Organized Konfusion, Edan, Big Daddy Kane and the Wu. Just a few of the greats.

Yeah, I know you love it too, even though it's French and heavily influenced by folk music. Just admit it. ;D

Awesome set by finnish rappers. Beat is from Mobb Deep - Shook ones part II.

The problem with French rap for me is because I don't know the language there is very little I can get out of it, (internation, delivery all go out the window when you can't understand it) other than rhythm and so far what i've heard (that song included) doesn't sound great.Originally Posted by Raptorg

I could go on for a while but this should do it
My fave is da old school Gangsta Rap from 90's, 2Pac tha best one, Dre and Snoop in "The Chronic", then Notorious B.I.G from East Coast, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony and Eminem. Some frenchs rappers are good too, like Sniper and Fonky Family. (Eminem excepted, I don't really like the actual rappers)
Some classic here:
Dr. Dre - Nuthin' But A "G" Thang
Dr. Dre - Still Dre
2Pac - Ghetto Gospel (A great posthume song)
Notorious B.I.G ft. Bone Thugs N Harmony - Notorious Thugs
And a good french one:
Sniper - Niquer le système
For the RnB stuff, I think a lot of things in this kind of music are very "commercial", but I really like Nelly Furtado "Loose" album and some songs from Akon are not bad too.
I'd have to say i don't listen to anything you guys do.. it's all about real, underground, old rap. new shit is shit (opinion obviously, but it's all homogenized).

Pretty much took one from a bunch of different artists. Again, all opinion what I said before, and if you don't like this.. You're too used to "hip-hop" such as 50cent, auto-tuned Lil Wayne, Eminem, and tupac. Tupac is good, no hate at all, but everyone knows him now. same as Biggie, it's a shame. they're always better when they're unknown. Don't know why but I enjoy slow music like some of this for raiding and pvping. At the same time, some of the 'fuck that shit up' kinda music works for pvp too, let's out the inner rage

But of course, I'm sure you'll find this "lame" since you think lyrics about "bitches" and "hos" and "teh ghetto zomg" is cool, eventhough there's a 9 out of 10 chance you're actually white and probably also a wigger at that.
And lyrics inspired by your ancestors is automatically lame, because who cares about the Celts? Right?

Nas - Your Da Man

Ooh it's good to see some wow-players are into rap! I thought I was the only one.
My all time favorite rapper is Ice Cube. (Although he's not far from the runner up, which changes between Nas, Proof, Tupac, Eminem and The Game) I know their styles are all different, but over the time I've gotten a liking for a little diversity.
My favorite group is definitely 213 (Warren G, Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg). Unfortunately they only have one album
All time faves -
Bow Down, Westside Connection (Ice Cube, WC & Mack 10)
California Vacation, The Game
When I'm Gone, Eminem
Oh and the saddest hip hop song I've heard (I've looked for them for many hours, but never could really find a sad one) "Dance" by Nas.
PS This thread was about r&b too so I'll have to add: Ne-Yo ain't so bad, I guess.
