Well keep it secret. Then add up all the money you have spent on Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, etc. games which last 10ish hours playtime unless they are heavy multiplayer shooters, all the money you have spent at movie theaters where one movie with popcorn runs more than one month of WoW but lasts two hours, etc. Then see which you are uncomfortable with lol.

Far to much. Classic, BC, Wrath, about 2.5 years of playing, 6 realm transfers, 3 race changes, 5 name changes, celestial steed, pandaren monk and lil' kt. But really it was worth it to me.

If hardware bought specifically for WoW counts then that's 3 laptops (2 gaming quality 1 reg, had one I split w/ my wife bought a 2nd when we started playing and after a yr upgraded) just under 4 yrs of 2 accounts and about half a doz server x-fers each (damn unstable guilds...) But all this may seem like a lot but it has prevented me from buying either an xbox360 or a Ps3 yet, as neither of us would have the time to do both, so we just haven't (yet lol).

So minus the cost of those 2 systems + online monthly service fees and at least a new game or two ever other week(that s about what I bought w/ my ps2 n reg xbox) and hardware (mem cards controllers etc) w/ some rough math its pretty damn close, comes out to about $4800 each...

Edit: forgot to add in the cost of the WoW games them selves 2x BC 2x Wotlk(one special ed.)

I have been playing for over 5 years, so the cost is monthly subscriptions and at least one new gaming computer in that time. However, it is much cheaper on an hourly basis than other forms of entertainment, like gambling or spending time in taverns.... plus, my wife always knows where I am and doesn't need to worry about me.

    $2,780

This includes 3 copies of all the versions of the game, ~500 in transfers and faction changes, and 5 years of subscriptions for 3 accounts.

    Dear lord.

    Classic: 30 Euro
    TBC: 40 euro
    Wotlk: 40 euro
    5 years subscribtion --> 60 months --> 60x13= 780
    No factionchanges/extras --> 0

30+40+40+780 = 890 Euro. Wow, this kinda scares me.

    6x faction + server
    3-4 years x2 subscriptions
7x blizzard store pets between 2 account
    vanilla + tbc + wotlk x3

    probably around 2000$

the only thing i regret is the faction + server changes. i transferred to play with some old friends when i came back after a break, had to change faction to. got there and realized it was terribad and immediately transferred my two toons back. STRONG waste of money.

6 years of subscription, 3 accounts, 15-20 server transfers + faction transfers on numerous characters. A few items from Blizzard store, pets, mount, real life collectable items. I think I've spent enough.

    Game time: 6500kr
    Server transfers: 2000kr
    Faction changes: 750kr
    Race changes: 400kr
    Total: 9650 kr, which is 1051 € or 1366 $.

LAWL... I've paid for my wife, myself, and my son to play for three years... game and 2 xpacs for me and wife... 1 transfer for me and wife... yeah... 'bout $1,600 so far and plan on buying Cata for me and wife, and will get WotLK and Cata for son for Christmas... so tack on another $160. Ugh.

Vanilla, BC, LK and now Cata = 4*40€
    55 months of sub = 55*13€
    1 name change=8€
    2 faction changes=2*25€

    total: 933€

About 16€ per month on average. Pretty cheap hobby unless I estimate how much money I lost because of playing when I could have been working in my free time.

    I don't really want to think about it... (+- €340 x2?)
And in the end it doesn't matter what the cost up to now is.
Me and my girlfriend are having fun going through all of the content together.
Also, being in an guild with all IRL friends is awesome.

been playing for 5 years with 2 accounts so that is about 1558 euro in game time, 280 euro in retail games, had 11 server transfers in total so thats 220 euro, also had 4 faction changes netting in at 100 euro. Grand total: 2158 euro over the last 5 years.

Not to mention I built a computer that has never been running any other game than wow (my ps3 and 360 handles other games) in 2007 costing me about 3400 euro to build with all peripherals, monitor etc. Not to mention my 20/20 sdsl line that costs 110 euro a month. A subscription I would never have if it wasn't for WoW.

WoW is undoubtly an expensive game to play, especially if you want full graphics on a big screen with the very best in the mouse/keyboard/headset department. Should never have added up all the expenses, now I feel like quitting lol
