    Slow West 6/10

Great cinematography and solid performances. It's a brisk film and not all that bad but I also felt like the story itself was kinda boring. I just didn't find a lot of the movie very interesting or compelling aside from the great aesthetic with which it was shot.

    Speaking of Westerns

    Slow West 5/10

Saw it as well, thought similarly. Basically a weird European take on the west. Some talking, some violence, neither of which moves the plot forward. The ending comes suddenly and feels like it happens by accident. Atleast it was fun watching some GoT actors dress-up as cowboys.

    Bone Tomahawk 8/10
Compelling actors playing good characters moving the plot along. Kurt Russel and Patrick Wilson make for solid cowboys. Took awhile to recognize Richard Jenkins (dad from step brothers playing a very different character. Brief appearances by Sean Young and Hanzee from Fargo. Makes for a good slow burning chase movie. Until the last 5 minutes when it veers into torture porn.

    Missouri Breaks 10/10
Rewatched my favorite oddball western. Jack Nicholson leads a gang of horse thieves into Montana. Marlon Brando plays an eccentric regulator hired to hunt him down. Great acting all around with great scenery.

    Sisters - 6.5/10

The film had a clumsy, lukewarm start but it picked up steam. Fey and Poehler are a great duo and the film has charm. That said, the rest of the cast was hit or miss and there were some weird moments where the comedy fell flat. Bobby Moynihan...can be a bit much at times :/

    The Revenant 8/10

I actually found a lot of the film boring and uninteresting. Mostly the middle act- I honestly felt like it went on too long for little to no pay off in character or plot development. However, this movie is so fabulously directed. I can not even imagine how some of these shots were achieved physically. I gasped aloud several times when the camera goes careening over a cliff or drowns in an icy river.

Cinematography in this film is unbelievable. In the actual sense of the word- I can not believe some of this stuff was possible. Kubrick's Barry Lyndon is one of my favorite films, but to shoot a film like this in the wilderness? I think Malik, Kubrick and Herzog would appreciate this work from a technical point of view alone. Artistically, this is breathtakingly beautiful stuff.

Performances are terrific. No doubt Dicaprio and Hardy are going all in on this film. And I felt a real sense of tension and unease throughout the film. I have seen actual snuff films and barely raised an eyebrow. Yet the investment in Glass' story was so palpable and intense that I by turns winced and yelped when bones snapped or tomahawks bit into flesh.

I was not the only one in the theater audibly and physically reacting either. Great sense of authenticity.

That being said, I did think the characterizations were kinda weak. Didn't really explore who these people were or how they came to be who they are in the film. We know what drives them, but that's not any more sophisticated than "revenge". The 'mystical' Native American stuff was also a tough swallow. As I mentioned above, the languid (and over long) 2nd act creates an almost sleepy film vibe where I felt Glass' struggle should have been felt most intensely or built on his character- it didn't.

Despicable Me in den on TV with mom.

Was pretty cute I guess. Story is good. Animation is good. Plot is predictable kinda but it's all good in the hood. Comedy was good.

Actually I think the movie did a lot in the time span. There were always jokes and things happening.

7/10. Feels like a higher grade than it should have but it's just well done. It's not like it really excites me. The minions weren't really big enough to me for the fandom I see in some people. Not that I don't get it, it's just a bit inexplicable since their role was minor.

A drone capable of carrying 10kg's of gear?

Those are expensive, yeah. But the movie has a budget of 135 million dollars, so 120k dollars for a drone is practically nothing.

Iron Man 1 & 2; We're on a bit of a superhero movie kick. I'll give each a 7/10, though the sequel wasn't quite as good as the first. Still, enjoyed both quite a bit.

    Steve Jobs : 8/10

Another intelligent film written by Aaron Sorkin. And Michael fassbender killing it as steve jobs. Also the whole cast is amazing kate winslet, jeff daniels, seth rogan all give huge performances. Plus its not your run of the mill biopic it just focuses on 3 different product releases and the film is mostly backstage so it has this constant kind of rock and roll concert charged vibe to it but from the tech world. Its just a good film.

Can't immediately find a source that indicates they used drones to film it.

Can't find a source drones were used on The Revenant either. And nothing that accommodates the Alexa 65.

Yes they are, if they are unmanned.

Most, if not all, drones used for film shooting are helicopters.

Wait, so they used unmanned drones/helicopters able to fit the new camera and lenses for this thing? Because I am still turning up no concrete confirmation of such.

The IMDB article linked does not state such expressly.

In any case, the movie was well made.

If the movie was filmed with Alexa 65 then one could make the assumption they mounted that thing on a drone.
