Arete is a 3-day Heroic 10 Man Horde raiding guild on the Bloodhoof server (US) - EST. We run 10 man raids exclusively. The proposed raid schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, from 7pm EST to 11pm EST.

The guild was formed in October 2010, in anticipation of the Cataclysm expansion to World of Warcraft. Its founding members have raided every instance Blizzard has offered since the game's launch in 2004 - highlighted by a very early level 60 C'thun kill and the destruction of the Lich King. Our mission is to work efficiently, play hard, and ultimately complete all raid content, up to and including Heroic Deathwing. Arete maintains a core group of about 15 raiding members, forming a small but well organized team.

Guild members are generally adults with full time jobs so time is valuable. Raids are fast, efficient, and min/maxing is expected. We fully expect members to research their class both out of game and in game, using tools such as Elitist jerks, Tankspot, and combat training dummies. We are min/maxers and take the time to learn to play our class to its limits.

Loot is distributed using a silent-bid straight points per hour and boss kill DKP system using QuickDKP as a management tool.


At this time we are simultaneously running regular guild 5 man heroics and recruiting to bolster our ranks and to achieve class balance in our raids, with an emphasis on healers and some ranged dps. Factoring in holidays, the current target date for the start of Cataclysm 10 man raids is early January. You will be a full member of the regular raiding group if accepted and now is a fantastic opportunity to get in on the ground floor of something big.
