A Break From All Those Rift Threads. :)

Name some video-games/series that you would consider the best for 2000-2010 era and explain why you enjoyed them.

    For me:

    1. Call of Duty series- Generally is the basis for shooters and how I base other shooters off of it, though Modern Warfare 2 was a bit a of a letdown.

    2. Mario series (2000-2010 games)- I base my platformers off of this but Mario's game mechanics are extremely good at being used.

    3. Red Dead Redemption- Enjoyed this game throughly and the multiplayer I for some reason like just as much as the story.

EDIT: Move this to Video-Game thread, my bad.

That was one awful name for a thread.

This one game called World of Warcraft is pretty good.

    Modern Warfare 1 and 2.
    StarCraft 2.

masss effect 1/2, halo 1/2/3, fable (not 2/3), oblivion, warcraft 3, starcraft 2, half life 2, portal, gmod, world of warcraft, dragon age origins, call of duty world at war (had some really good multiplayer realistic war mod, didn't like unmodded). battlefield bad company 2, bioshock 1/2, fallout 3, supreme commander, warhammer dawn of war (expansions except soulstorm), anno 1404, super meat boy, minecraft, plants vs zombies, red faction guerilla, kameo: elements of power, star wolves 1/2/3, CnC generals+zero hour, unreal tournament 2004.

listed all the games i remember spending a lot of time on although i've also spent alot of time on runescape and spore, i can't really say those were good games to play for longer than a week.

really, CoD was one of the worst games brought out ever. It created a genre of FPS based on unskilled, repetitive gameplay and developed a poor breed of gamer.

Best for the decade I would vote:

    - GTA3 for inspiring the sandbox. Although Vice City was the best game of the franchise.
    - Mass Effect 2 for providing a really unique game that transcendes the genre.
    - Battlefield 1942 for developing multiplayer FPS (I consider this to be a better gaming experience than CoD will ever be).

Crash Team Racing should have been delayed a year to be voted the best racer of the decade :P

Call of Duty is one of the reasons I hate FPS gaming. Talk about a steaming pile.
Mario? I think Nintendo could try making a new franchise some time instead of living off of this terrible Mario franchise.

I wish Red Dead Redemption was available for PC, it looks awesome.

That said, Unreal Tournament. You don't know anything about FPS games unless you've played Unreal Tournament and it's following series. They defined a genre.

I'm shocked though, it's as if 2000-2005 gaming never excisted. Does anyone even remember the games from 10 years ago? Such a shame.

Psychonauts, the unsung relic of adventure gaming. I loved it.

I forgot to mention Giants: Citizen Kabuto.
    "TIMMEH!"

Oh and Ground Control! One of the most awesome RTS games ever created. A second one came out that was equally awesome.

    Max Payne!
Battlefield 1942, it revolutionized the FPS genre.
    Neverwinter Nights, epic RPG.
Half-Life 2, who can forget it?
The Longest Journey, a really really really really good adventure game. If you like the genre, you MUST play The Longest Journey.
