I wonder if anyone have theorycrafted and have some proof that it is better/worse then actually having offpieces. Cause from what I heard from most other shadowpriest saying that it is not worth it.
Thank you,

The 4 piece bonus provides about as much gain as the 2 piece bonus, if I recall off the top of my head. Someone somewhere did the math on shadowpriest.com, check the gear section, about around that area. Question is, do you want gear that'll show a DPS gain on recount, or a 4 set that adds to damage no one believes exists.
I'm sure someone will post after me with a direct link or to say I'm wrong, or right, or something.
Think its better to go with the 800 resi or the disc 4 set bonus.

Answered me earlier rather clear.
I actually meant for PvEing but thank you for the responses!
The information is based on an older version of simulation craft and live version of the game, but it should still hold true between the time it was posted and now. The differences between Crit/Haste/Mastery are so small, there is no way you could make up the difference by going with offset pieces.
Also, thank you for linking that Caine. Saved me the hassle of digging it up or having to run it again.
Shadowy apparitions were nerfed as well with the 10% reduction to shadow power, so the dps value of the 4p as decreased as well.
Tbth, I don't even spec into shadow apps in my raiding build, I used them for utility talents instead (silence+disarm)
Haste is still far ahead of crit/mastery also, so grabbing pieces with native haste instead of reforging to it could possibly outweigh the benefits of even having the 4p over offset pieces.

For fun I ran the simulation I had done awhile ago to further support the information above. These numbers reflect the Shadow Priest buffs and nerfs that have occurred in 4.0.6:
Patchwerk:
Priest_Shadow_T11_372 4 Piece Enabled : 27149dps
Priest_Shadow_T11_372 4 Piece Disabled: 26916dps
Difference: 233 DPS
Helter Skelter:
Priest_Shadow_T11_372 : 23559dps 4 Piece Enabled : 25534dps
Priest_Shadow_T11_372 : 23224dps 4 Piece Disabled: 25171dps
Difference: 363 DPS
The results for the Shadowy Apparitions procs are below:
The DPS gain between the two cases is between 227-333 DPS. This equates out to ~67-99 Intellect worth of DPS. With current scale factors:Code:DPS DPS% Count Interval DPE Hit Crit Max Crit% Patchwerk: shadowy_apparition 372 4 Piece Enabled 980 3.6% 27.5 15.57sec 15600 12307 25931 33306 28.6% shadowy_apparition 372 4 Piece Disabled 753 2.8% 27.5 15.52sec 11974 9462 19930 25620 28.3% Helter Skelter: shadowy_apparition 372 4 Piece Enabled 1426 6.1% 39.6 10.95sec 15756 12336 25980 33306 28.7% shadowy_apparition 372 4 Piece Disabled 1093 4.7% 39.5 10.99sec 12093 9491 19965 25620 28.4%
You would need to gain an additional 67-99 Intellect, 126-185 Haste, 151-222 Crit, or 157-231 Mastery to offset the difference made up by the tier 11 4-set bonus. This is not possible with the current tier of raiding, thus, the 4 piece should be obtained as a way of maximizing your DPS.Code:Priest_Shadow_T11_372 : 27141dps Int Spi SP Hit Crit Haste Mastery Scale Factors 3.3509 1.4122 2.5825 1.4349 1.5024 1.8062 1.4410 Normalized 1.0000 0.4214 0.7707 0.4282 0.4484 0.5390 0.4300
Tests were run at 10000 iterations so there is still a bit of variability, but they are still more than accurate enough to back up my statements.
