The "Blue Screen of Death" Nightmare

I've been having a terrible time with my computer lately. It was fine for a year or so (no format at all) and a crapton of games have been played, movies have been watched, music has been listened, porn has... yeah, you get the idea. However, couple of weeks ago, I started getting Blue Screen of Death every time I played a game for more than 4 - 5 minutes on the first go, then after a restart I could play for an hour and BANG, another Blue Screen. I decided to format my PC since, there was too much crap installed to dig through for possible conflicts. A fresh, clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and all was fine. Drivers updated, all set to start anew. Or so I thought. Again, I started to experience the same shitty problem.

First I tried the debug tool in order to get an insight of the problem. Here, the situation was weird. It seems that each time my computer dies, it is because of a different process. First there was some Windows Vista Driver (unknown), then an Ati-related driver (I am using a Radeon 5770 as a graphic gard), and finally a MEMORY CRASH which to my knowledge indicated a hardware problem with my RAM memory. I got the MEM test and ran it for 5 hours, without any errors.

To be honest, I am lost here. The problem continues to persist and I have no idea what might be causing this shit. So, maybe some of you who had a similar problem might offer their assistance. It will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

Try to clean your computer from dust.
Reattach or switch memory modules (if you have more modules try to take away 1 by 1 and see how it goes).
If none of the above works then you should check other parts one by one starting from PSU, GPU, HDD etc or take it to the repair shop.
Also, if possible, try to post crash log.

    Поздрав.

Yeah I still have my warranty so I will probably take it to the repair shop next week. Thing is, I know how our services "operate" so I don't want to end up paying for something which isn't broke. Still, thanks for the reply.

if your having meltdowns during games, several things could be happening.

    1) Is your motherboard equipped with the Nvidia Chipset? If so, are you using an Nvidia graphics card? About and around this time last year, Nvidia had a major booboo, and released a set of drivers that completely fucks up your motherboard if you have the previously mentioned combo, or one similar. I lost a damn fine mobo, AND a Geforce 8800 Ultra to that. The is NVIDIA WHQL 196.75. If you have that, or any driver in that range, that could be your problem right there. Nvidia has sense pulled those drivers from their website, but other websites hosting drivers may have not.

    2) your video card itself could be on its last leg. For whatever reason, when things aren't in tip top shape in them, they go the crap and cause major problems. It can be hard to pin point, due to the fact that most of your big crashes happen when graphics heavy and physics heavy games are running.

If you love / enjoy WoW in its current state, don't bother with my signature...with all due respect, its not for you. (note: I am happy and respectful though, of your enthrallment with WoW... if not a little envious!)

Sounds to me like a hdd problem. If it is a different thing that crashes it every time (games, programs, drivers, memory crash) it suggests that it isn't the specific programs that are broken but where the pc is trying to get the data from. Try doing something like installing a full program and running it to see if it has a spaz because the data gets corrupted during the install.

Did you get the latest Bios, Chipset, Audio, Ethernet and Sata drivers from your motherboard manufacturer? If not i think you should then you can move on. What is the latest BSOD code you have had? There will be a bunch of zeros then something like 1a, c2 or d5, e.g 0x000000D5. I had the codes that were pointing to RAM and HDD but in the end it turned out to be bad ASACPI.sys driver and it took a hell of a long time to work round to that so maybe yours is in some random driver like mine was. Goodluck

Try to whittle down the options.

To be honest, this could be a whole crap-ton of things.

Run SeaTools to make sure your HDD is in proper working condition. Does Prime95 cause your system to BSOD? Is your CPU overheating? Is everything plugged in properly? Are you overclocking?
