The show makes me want to adopt a pet wolf. So I can get a 5% crit chance!

Same. I guess they don't want people hating her. Lol

Ok, I'll pick a few based on the show.

Fav: Jamie, Tyrion, Viserys, Ned, and Arya as my number 1 pick.
Least fav: Catelyn, Rob, Cersei, Joffrey, Sansa

man, when Ned was forced to kill his daughter's pet wolf, that was really sad.

That fucking prick of a price that bullied Arya and got her friend killed, i wish her wolf bit his whole fucking hand off. i hope there's smallpox or polio on that planet, cuz that douche needs to die

So if you look at page 5 I was a bit disappointed with the first episode, although I did hold out hope that it was just a rough episode seeing as how they had to cram all the introductions in there and everything.

But episode 2....WOW! Excellent. Definitely did not disappoint. The last few sequences were fantastic. Can't wait for more.

I felt sorry for Sansa later on and I always felt sad for how her wolf died. How impotent it must feel to be in her position. At least the other characters were able to do something.

Yeah, but atm, Sansa reaps what she sows. lol

I really miss that Bran didn't say, "His name is Summer" when he woke.

Yeah, Sansa is definitely hard to like at first. Joffery is definitely the most unlikable character in the series (along with Gregor Clegane I suppose but he doesn't get nearly as much screen time). In fact almost all of the characters in the books are presented with more than just one side of them but Joffery is pretty darn one dimensional (bad or evil).

True about Joff and the Mountain. And the damned grand maester too. lol That's what's so great. Characters you love at one moment, you will hate the next. And vice versa.

I need to read these books lol

But i think if i read the books, i will love them so much, that i will start finding all these things that the show missed, and that will cause me to loose interest.

Specifically, Trollsbane or whoever else read the books, is the show not nearly as good as the book was? do you think you enjoy the show less b/c you have read the books?

Arya should have ran him through while she had the chance.

Nothing can really match the books. That goes for just about any book to TV/Movie transport. The thing about the books is that you get to understand each character due to the point of view style that GRRM writes with. By the end of the 4th book he does a total of 25 different point of view characters. So you get to know them in a way that can never be translated to the screen.

I am one of those people that read LotR and liked the movie version better.

These books ARE better than the TV series. These books are, imo, the best thing ever written on paper. Each chapter is a different character's point of view, so you get VERY intimate with them.

That said, the show is (so far, and I hear it stays that way through the season) by far the best adaptation I have ever seen in regards to staying true to the source material. There are added scenes and deleted scenes, but they don't hinder the watcher at all so far. They work very well for the book to screen translation.

My suggestion to you is to finish watching season 1 without reading the books. Then, go buy them all and devour them.
Or, buy the first book and limit your reading to match the pace of the show. That's roughly 80 pages a week. BUT, I promise that you will not be able to once you get into the reading. lol

Anyone who reads or loves a brilliant story is truly missing out if these books are not in their collection.

I've read the books 5 or 6 times through, and I am absolutely loving what I am seeing on HBO.

I'm currently re-reading the first book, since it had been a few years now since I first read it, and didn't really remember much about it. I can't help but see the characters now as the actors on the show (which isn't a bad thing), and it's a lot of fun to imagine how the show will do some of the up-coming scenes later on in the book.

I don't want to give anything away for the people that haven't read the books at all, but if the rest of the episodes stay as close to the source as the first two have, this show is gonna be freakin awesome all the way through.

I think the reason is Martin's writing style. It's very... cinematic. LotR just pales in comparison (Tolkien had some good imagination, but he was no stylist).

There's no better way of expanding a character's fanbase than bitchslapping Joffrey.

Speaking of Joff, lovely actor. He's the perfect spoiled sadistic brat.

The thing is, that's an original production while GoT is based off a literary work, not to mention the differences in theme. I'm glad they didn't just throw in buckets of blood and rather decided to stick to the source material.
