Aye. The two jormungars are the first step if someone wants a relationship with her: all interested suitors must beat the jormungars before they're allowed to start dating her, and the two ancient dragons have to be bested before she will actually commit to the relationship. So far no suitor has made it past even the jormungars so she's likely to stay single for the rest of her life; she simply doesn't feel anyone is worthy unless they can match her.

That's not an actual shield, that one of the guardian's abilities (Virtue of Courage maybe? Not sure, haven't really looked into Guardians much).
