Also, certain things have specific target zones too - so you can aim for the dragons head or leg...or not bother and just aim for the whole thing. AOE is targeted with an..erm...aoe target thingumy.

Is that about right does anybody know?
    That's about it.

You can have targeting such as in wow but you use your abilities whether you have something targeted or not (ie, you will swing that sword if you press the skill). Also for ranged abilities, your projectile will go toward where you targeted at the time of your ability usage. So if that target moves from when you used your skill it could very well miss (could happen for slower moving projectiles). In other words, there is no "heat seeking or homing" in GW2 like there is in WoW for example.

But yeah, targeting is pretty much what you described.

Um so in wow speak mesmer = arcane mage?

I see mirror image and a blink/warlock tele spell.

Am I missing something, don't get me wrong it looks totally badass, I've just never played GW1, so I'm trying to get a feel of this class in 'WoW speak.'

I guess you could say so, there really isn't anything close to mesmer in WoW.

Yeah, the more I look at that trailer, the less I'd call it an arcane mage.

Still pretty awesome. Coolest looking profession, imo. Will def try Mesmer when the game is (finally!) released.

Mesmer in GW1 was kind of an anti-class. They would use you against yourself.
So they may of retained some of that.

Actually the easiest way to explain it would be to show you the GW1 Mesmer skills:

I think what he means is there is no way to tell yet if GW2 Mesmer will play like GW1 Mesmer.

Obviously. But they can't call it 'Mesmer' without retaining some of the original version, can they?

They still have purple butterflies, which is a Mesmer trademark
But to me it seems they may have gone down more a "fucking with you", then a hexing path, which is still very Mesmer.

We'll really just have to wait for the proper unveil on Wednesday to read about skills and class design.

I've been missing a lot of stuff, is there any word if the closed beta is still starting this year?
