Ahhh. Yh, I must say the culture behind the pacific islands' and polenisias' tattoos are very deep and carry a huge weight of identity. Must be very awesome for a "roots" feeling. Really beautiful too. I do like the celtic ones too for their deep cultural meaning.
I had a mate at uni who had a pacific one...not sure where he was from exactly, it was the pacific ethically though, but he wore it like a badge of honour.
"undefined" is the normal status right now.

They're culturally very significant - each tattoo is composed of several pieces...such that other people would know and what you're about...and I *think* so that you knew what *you* were about. Deeply socially important - and also deeply spiritually; my artist, Zed, he lived and breathed it...
Celtic is beautiful. I know that, as an observer, and also given the ebb and flow of popularity...well, tattoos can seem crass etc - from my perspective, it's more (when followed with purity) of a spiritual journey - other people can see and we can talk, by all means...but I don't show it off. (caveat - I understand that some readers have a lot more work than me, I am not in any way trying to ink myself the expert, or even want to be in a race etc).
But tell me - do you connect with something SB?
I love joan miro but I never met him. If you came to tea and I had a miro on my wall - would you express a similar sentiment?
If something connects with you, it connects - gone are the days when we couldn't eat the pie we wanted because it was baked in the next town.
Let me be clear - getting some ink, any ink....is not wise. We do it...but, on balance...not wise. Connecting with a cultural art, appreciating it, respecting it and taking it as your own....is that so bad? If I love it, the artist loves it...and I'm paying homage to another culture - why not?
I don't have a tattoo myself...but I really appreciate the artistry and cultural significance of them. I am big history fan...and have been on archaeological digs etc...so I guess that's why I like them. Tbh, I don't really like the tattoos of like a chinese character or a mushroom or something personally. Not against anyone who wants one...they just don't appeal to me. I prefer those that deeper significance.
I've got some Celtic blood running through me...but yh...I didn't fancy getting horse whipped through the streets in my younger years by my parents so I never got a tattoo...I always wanted a Celtic arm though. I don't even think anyone in my family has one...but yh, if they'd been some cultural influence on me I'd have definitely got one.
Not yet, here in Sweden we're typically quite accepting of tattoos (until you ask the older ages, 55+, when they were young only sailors and criminals had tattoos - it's true), but I know there's a few things I can't do. I can't become a waiter in the restaurant business, for example, or any other line of profession where my hands are my foremost tools and which also involves a lot of social interaction with people of any background and age. But the way I reason, if I ever end up in such a situation, there's always gloves I can wear.
Also, just as a footnote, it's now five years since I got my first one, and it still happens that I happen to glance at my hand and go "whoa... that looks bloody amazing."

Just so we can count down the days/time for the event :P
Also, i got a tatoo done when i was very drunk, atleast i don't regret it though, as it's a unique kinda thing the guy had drawn, he died literally 3 days after he did my tatoo.
