Ha, the show makes you O_O at least twice per episode...it gets pretty ridiculous near the end, and they know it and just keep playing with it.

I would recommended my personal favorite anime all time which is Yu Yu Hakusho. It starts out a little slow the first couple of episodes but it is filled with action and it has very good character development.

Seriously though, if you enjoy stuff like Naruto and Bleach, One Piece would be right up your alley. Alot of the other series listed by others are great series, but fall more into the moe/slice of life variety or the more cerebral/mess with your mind type of show (Death Note would fall into the later category) The slice of life stuff might rely a little heavy of the Japanese culture knowledge for someone just getting into anime and the heady stuff might be a little heavy.

Be warned, One piece is a really long running series, just under 500 episodes last I checked. I find it to be really enjoyable. A great mix of action and comedy. It is sort of like Naruto with Pirates in place of Ninjas. It does start out a little slow, and some people are turned off by the unique animation style, but stick with it for at least the first 20 or so episodes unless you are really not enjoying it. It gets much, much better as time goes on and all the main cast joins. One of my all time favorites and one I still look forward to each week.
Yeah i had some other people say that too me aswell, i gave it a try when i just started watching anime but couldnt get into it. it's like a taste for anime grows and differentiates over years though, or so i noticed. So ill give it another shot.

-Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: The world has changed and there is no longer a clear line between humans and machines. Androids, full-body cyborgs, and partial cyborgs are all common. In turn this has raised the specter of brain-hacking, cyber-terrorism, anti-cybernetics groups (who see humanity being lost), and so forth. The series centers around Public Peace Section #9, an ad-hoc group of specialists in cyber-terrorism. It has some action, but is primarily a detective show; if you liked the thinking in Death Note you'll probably enjoy Ghost in the Shell.

-Berserk: a medieval action/adventure focusing on Guts, a swordsman who has been fighting for as long as he can remember. He is recruited by the Band of the Hawk, led by the charismatic Griffith who has ambitions of rising in the world. It's pretty heavy on the violence and blood, but also has some good political intrigue. If you liked Claymore, Berserk would probably also suit your tastes.

-Cowboy Bebop: considered something of a classic of anime, it focuses on Spike Spiegel and the ragtag team of bounty hunters he teams up with. Amazing sound track if you have any taste for jazz and the like. If you liked Samurai Champloo, this series has some of the same essence of people thrown together by chance and wandering about looking for work, although it's significantly darker than Samurai Champloo.

-Black Lagoon: a close kin in spirit to Cowboy Bebop, except rather than being in space it's a group of pirates in the South China sea. This series however is far darker and more vulgar than either of the aforementioned "group wandering" series. It also has a sense of humor about it that I thought was subtly brilliant, but again dark.

-Code Geass: one of the most popular anime series at this time, it's a combination of action, political maneuvering, mecha, and a sprinkling of high school drama. Lelouch vi Britannia is a prince in hiding after his mother was assassinated. In a chance encounter with the mysterious girl C.C. he gains the power of the Geass Eye, a power that allows him to bend the will of others to his own. With this power he vows to take revenge on the Britannian Empire for what it has done. A lot of people describe the series as "Gundam meets Death Note," which is a fair enough assessment.

-Mushishi: hard to classify, it's about a man named Ginko going around studying creatures called "mushi" which are like phantasmal organisms. They aren't like demons, but more macroscopic bacteria that most people can't see. I found it an oddly calming and enjoyable anime, never seen anything like it.

Edit: as Skizzit said above if you liked Naruto and Bleach there's a good chance you'll like One Piece. I'm not personally a fan, hence failing to mention it.
That's funny you mentioned those, i started downloading Cowboy bebop and Berserk yesterday, ima watch those yup

I disliked the one that involved the transformers and such, friend of mine told me to watch gundam (looked alot like the one you suggested) but i can't see myself watching that.

And yes FMAB is fucking amazing, it's the one i finished just yesterday, i was so happy when SPOILER Al got his body back SPOILER

Also, thanks for putting so much time into your post, was a big help Was hesitant on bebop, but not anymore :P music is important in an anime.

I enjoyed these animes the best:
    Lucky Star
    The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
K-On! - have not watched it, waiting for 2 months for english release.
    My favourite animes are:
Clannad / Clannad After Story - Just too good, still gotta watch Part 2 of Clannad After Story.
    School Rumble
My bride is a mermaid - I found it very funny...especially episode 10: Pumping Iron.

I have like, a lot of animes..I cannot tell their names, but for sure, i do not have Bleach, Naruto, Dragon ball /Z/GT. I do not like those animes.

I never hear this mentioned in a lot of anime conversations, but I really enjoyed Paranoia Agent. It's a rather short anime (13 episodes iirc) but it does more in it's short span than a lot of animes do in in dozens of episodes. It's a thriller/suspense anime that has a strong message that really comes to life in the last episode. To this day after dozens of animes it still ranks as having some of the more powerful moments in anime to me.

Oh gosh, how'd I forget Paranoia Agent. It's really twisted and psychological, but really does leave you thinking about life in a way most things don't. I liked it a bunch. But it's not gory like Higurashi no Naku Koro ni and Umi Neko no Naku Koro ni (both of which I also enjoyed a bunch).

Serial Experiments Lain is a good classic also, again, if you enjoy a good psychological story.

Here. This is a list I put together in another thread asking for new series to watch. I think he had already seen One Piece so I did not mention it. He also mentioned he was a big fan of Gintama, as am I so there are a few mentions to that series as well. It is an extreamly funny series, but relies alot on parodies to other anime and if you are early in your anime viewing lifetime, some of those may be lost on you.

Based on what you have seen, I am guessing you like more action series than romance / slice of life. With that is mind I would recommend the following:

Black Lagoon - Seriously awesome series about a boring office worker who ends up being taken hostage by a group of mercenaries and then joins them because he is bored with his life. Loads of great action and characters. Two seasons complete and a new OVA just started.

Hunter X Hunter - A pretty well made Shonen series similar to Naruto / Bleach / Yu Yu Hakusho. Completed

Fairy Tale - Another Shonen series, but with more comedy. Basically take One Piece and replace pirates with mages and you have Fairy Tale. Ongoing, but it will be one of those really long running series.

RaXephon - A mecha series that is alot like Evangelion. Not quite as much of a mind trip, but still has a pretty good mystery about it. Completed.

Yakitate!! Japan - A series about making bread. Yes, you read that right. But it is one of my all time favorite series. Imagine if two bakers having a bread baking contest was as serious / crazy as fights in a series like Naruto. Thats Yakitate. Give it a try and watch a few episodes and you will be hooked. Completed.

Gundam SEED and Gundam 00 - Mecha series more like Code Geass than Evangelion. Lots of military drama. Each one is two seasons long and are not connected to each other outside of general themes. I liked SEED better, but I know other people who prefer 00.

Hayate no Gotoku! - A parody comedy anime sort of like Gintama. Has alot more slice of like / romance to it then Gintama, but it is very funny. 2 seasons long. Completed until they finally start on a third. The manga is ongoing.

That should give you a pretty good start. Also, if you don't know already, Gintama started back up again. 5 new episodes as of this post. The first one back was seriously one of the funniest episodes ever.

Yeah, I didn't mention Trigun but I think it's a good oldie. It's a rare anime that poses a real question: can you live a life of non-violence in a world that is so obviously full of brutality? Also Nicholas D. Wolfwood's role as Vash's foil is excellent. Can't say much more without spoilers.

    Here is few of series

    Drama / Love story
Clannad & Clannad After Story - Its great series i have to admit that but meh it wasnt just for me . Some guys actually cried at the end of this series (Ended, 2 seasons"

Kaichou Wa Maid Sama - Love comedy and this is one of my favorites. (26 episodes (not sure if i remember correctly)

    Fighting
Freezing - Well there's some nudity (BIIIG BOOOBS:: and fighting. Doesnt follow manga that much but its descent series and only 12 eps (Ended, 12 episodes)

Yumekui Merry - Tells about nightmares and fighting in nightmares. Well here's same problem as freezing after 5 or 6 episodes doesnt follow manga (Ended, 12 episodes)

Gintama - Not sure if i should put it here because there's so many genres where u could put this but tells story about Gintoki (samurai legend) and alliens. Excellent comedy and fighting. Music were good also. (Ongoing, +200 episodes & movie)

Fairy Tail - Well if u have seen One piece this looks like that too but there's magic and i like this series alot more than One piece. Also great soundtrack. Maybe best after original naruto. (Ongoing) Also this series got few filler episodes at 68 or 69 and thei last to 75 or 76. But otherwise pretty much follows manga and there's some censorship done between anime and manga but doesnt matter that much.

Beelzebub - Tells about naked baby who's demon kings child and one day first year high schooler who is known as rampage oga ( or something like that) picks him up and becomes his parent. First i wasnt so much into it but now i like it. (Ongoing)

    Comedy
Minami-ke - well what u can say about this? Laughed alot. Series about Minami sister and their daily life (Ended, There's 3 seasons of this)

Seto No Hanayome (My bride is a mermaid) - Excellent comedy and somewhat "love story" (Ended, 1 24 or 25 eps season and few ova's"

Hayate No Gotoku - This is also one of my favorites. Tells story about boy whos parents left 150 million yen loan to him to payback and after that he runs debt collectors and finds him as a butler in house of "superhyper" rich lady. (Ended, 2 seasons. 1st season doesnt follow manga that much but the second season starts when few months has passed and somewhat follows manga)

Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai & Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai II (The World Only God Knows & II) Well great comedy and second season just started. Tells about geek boy who plays dating games and claims that he is "capturing god" and suddenly girl Elsie (or what ever) appears and they have made demon contract and this boy have to help Elsie to capture spirits which lives in girls heart. Keima (geek boy) have to make girls to fall love with him also to added Keima hates real world and real girls. (Ongoin, 2 season, 1st ended and 2nd ongoing)

Well my english sucks alot but anyhow i hope this was somewhat usefull for u. If u need more recommendation u can /pm me (Seen +100 anime series so there's more if u need. If u want to ask make sure u tell us what kind genre's ur looking for)) Happy to help anime lovers
