How plausible is it that a DK would kill a Lich and consume his Phylactery to gain the Liches powers? My idea is to have the DK turn on a lich and then join the Ebon Blade (and eventually cut ties with 'em and fight for the Horde exclusively [the DK would be an Orc]). He would become a skeletal orc (like the ones in WC3, or actually like a normal lich with legs and much more barrel chest/burlier look, since the Lich portrait artwork for WC3, the box art one, has a very orcish facial structure. Besides the first liches were orc warlocks and what not loyal to Ner'zhul.) Have the Lich horns comin' out his neck, some non-sensical runes carved into his forhead, and have that little egyptian metallic goattee thing as part of his natural body.

Well, as far as how I define the lore for liches, the phylactery is merely the object in which a lich's soul resides. It's the separation of the soul from the body that gives the lich his or her powers, and it's the phylactery and the soul within that allow the lich to be born anew if his or her body dies.

If you wanna make an orc lich, why not have the orc be a nercromancer/DK who simply undergoes the ritual of becoming a lich? Keeps to the lore a little steadier and is still pretty unique.
