Yeah, you might want to stay away from ranked for a while. I recommend three rune pages before going into ranked, so you can cover AP, AD, and Support (gp10 is important). Know every role on a basic level. I'm certainly not the best lane ADC, but my team fighting is solid so I play to that strength with Trist, Kog, and Ez being my "main" ADCs (I'm learning Vayne, though I have to use Tumble better).

Top lane, don't play Karthus. Just because pros do it, doesn't mean you should too. Learn some bruisers, both AP and AD. Elise is incredibly strong and I noticed you mentioned her as a jungler. Darius is good as a basic pick up, Renekton is the "You must be this tall to ride" champ for top lane, and Jarvan is just amazing. With the exception of Renekton, they double as strong jungle champions as well to add to your list.

Support, Blitz and Thresh are the two most banned champs at low ELO and you will barely play them. Soraka is subpar and relies too much on her team to make up for what you lose by playing her. Strong supports I would recommend are Sona (even though you hate her, dat ult), Janna (probably the hardest to master), Lulu, and Leona. Fiddlesticks works well too, though Annie is a tough sell in Bronze and Silver.

Your pretty good in mid lane, though I would drop Brand and Veigar. Brand is incredibly subpar in the current meta. Veigar is okay, though his lack of mobility hurts him a lot and you would be better with another pick. I highly recommend Kennen since he also works great as a top laner, and I would try to get good at Ahri. Ahri is one of those champs that is always good, she just falls in and out of use as people remember how to play against her. I would also try to learn an assassin, since most are also played in the top lane, like Zed, Akali, and Kha'zix.

Who knows what sort of twisted logic they used for the prices of runes. One would think that one price for all runes/quints of the same tier would have been enough, obviously Riot decided that it was not.

The cost of the energy ones are the most baffling, as those are the least used runes.

Yeah, they're good. Just one in an adc makes a big difference in lane.

I actually did pretty well with twitch in normals first time ever. First game, 9/10/3 with an awful CS total in 30 minutes. Bad game overall. We were dominating our lane (5/1/3 at one point) but the other two lanes were getting absolutely destroyed so we faced 5 man ganks against a fizz, sejuani and riven quite often.

Second game, 15/9/11, 184 CS in 40 minutes. We stomped early game. I got first blood on their vayne at like level 3 because she kept trying to trade me without even a doran's blade, so she had no lifesteal. I started to slip mid game and got caught a bit (including one time my team was pinging the deathbush on dragon side because they saw someone go in there and I saw everyone collapsing so I went in with a W... and all 5 were there. Took 3 ults with me though), but late game, I was just bullying everyone. I basically took down shaco in a W, 4 AAs and an E

Just won extremely friendly ranked game. Our top and jungle flamed each other, but they've got their shit together at ~15 minute. I played support Taric (with Vayne) against Tristana and Leona. I don't know why, but after getting first blood (slight push forward, get 2 level, stun into a wall+shatter on Tristana because she leveled explosive shot first), i started talking to Leona (I zoned her out from exp and was just standing because i'm not allowed to last hit duh) like "do you think i'm fabulous enough?", and she get that and continued something like "yeah, but have you seen that handsome buy Lucian?", then i've got angry at her for saying such a thing and we had our own little war over warding objectives, every killed pink was followed by "no don't touch it! You are heartless murder!". Was fun.

I mean, for ADC, I can play Caitlyn, Ashe and Ezreal fairly well from a fighting perspective, but I'm god awful at Vayne and I'm not very good at farming as ADC.

Tried Sona support. Loathe her. Got Janna is HA once and she was okay, but I built her as a mage.

I'm around 8k IP right now. Should I buy champs or runes? I only have a (fully completed) AP page. I have no ADC or tank or support pages yet.

Oh, forgot I can Zilean support too! Yeah, I'm not very good with the "common" supports.

Get pages first. Getting champs and not having runes for them is going to be counter productive anyway. You can build an AD/tank style page that'll do most top bruisers and quite a few junglers as well and most supports run with an armor/mr page with GP5.... or you can build an ADC page that can suit some tops and all adcs as well.

Once you hit 30 switch to draft pick if you want to practice for ranked seriously as well and you'll get a feel for what's banned/picked most commonly and how often you can get your roles. Unless you're 1st/2nd pick I wouldn't bank on getting mid often in solo q. If you're last pick you'll probably be stuck supporting 80%+ of the time.

If you go to http://www.lolking.net/champions/ and sort by popularity, you'll get an idea of what champions are picked most in games right now. It's a good idea to understand the mechanics of all of the popular ones at least to start with, and how you intend to build and play against them both early and late game.
