    Dream PC

Sup guys, hope ur all enjoying the summer (or lack of it so far).

Basically, A friend of mine has asked me to build him a dream PC.

I was wondering what sort of PC you guys can come up with, Price is not an issue as he is willing to spend anything upto £20k (yes, he's a rich fucker :/)

So, what sort of crazy ass spec should he go for?

Edit - £20k is NOT a limit, but to give an idea of how much he is willing to spend, He is willing to go over that by a long shot

Obviously this is a ludicrous budget and you could do just about anything with it.

I would stick with the more user friendly setup for a main gaming rig, and another more insane spec for whatever else.

Building two computers with that kind of budget is quite easy.

One thing: If you SLi, I would surely get a 16x/16x board. Don't settle for anything less. (obviously crossfire also)

He tells me his main use will be gaming but he wants a pc he can pretty much do anything with, he's already ordered the jellyfish from scan.co.uk as a "guest's" pc.... (/cry) and is looking for something a bit more ott for his own personal pc

You'd probably want to look out for something like this:

link of the making process: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...oject-L3p-D3sk

You could also put in all the 2x xeon and 4x GPU stuff you wish, maxing out the budget

I'll have to get to work on building something absolutely ridiculous on newegg..... Arslay has given me the foundations. ;p

Got stuff to do first though.

I would really start by having him a desk-case with made like the one I posted. For 20k, imo it would be sad not to

2600K, 2x590 or 3x580 3GB (you can add 4, but tests have indicated performance decrease in many games), Maximus IV Extreme, 4x480GB SSD's in RAID0, 4xSamsung 2TB in Software RAID10 (or RAID0 if RAID10 isn't available for software), Corsair AX1200 or the Silverstone (?) 1500W PSU, Xigmatek Elysium or Corsair Obsidian 800D, 4x4GB 2000Mhz+ RAM.

After that, 3 EK GTX580 blocks, 2 Laing D5 Single Edition Pumps, Koolance Dual D5 Rad, EK Supreme HF CPU block, 2 or 3 EK FC Links + 1 EK dual bridge or triple bridge (depending on graphics config), tubing and distilled water and a few decent sized radiators. Oh, and 2/3 EK Single Slot PCI Brackets.

Hook all that up and then just to top it off, an OCZ Revodrive.
Total would be in the 9-10K USD range for all of that.

Alternativly, you can go with a dual xeon setup, just switch the 2600K for 2x Xeon X5680, triple the RAM capacity, add in another EK Supreme HF, change the motherboard for an EVGA SR-2, add in some more SSD's and some more revodrives. Total would be in the 17K USD range. Might want to make account for an additional PSU too as the Xigmatek Elysium can hold one at the top and one at the bottom, although linking 2 up together can be a pain in the ass and pretty unsafe.

Oh, and yeah, go with some extreme monitor setup.
Okay. Owned that one, Synthaxx. :P

@synthaxx, 4x SSD lol that's decadent.... /envy. I'm not familiar with it, would there be a benefit of having Revodrives on top of that?
If I'm honest, I would prefer a desk-case and a 10k build over a topped-off 18k build - that case is going to last longer than the extra 8k hardware

@Synthaxx10k USD is about 6-7k£, so you can tripple that if you want to ;P

I would go with Synthaxx's 10Kish build, and then get three 27" or 30" 2560x1600 (or 2560x1440) monitors. They're amazing, and the cheapest ones run about $1000.

    Xonar Essence STX | 128GB Vertex 4 | AX750 | Xigmatek Elysium
    Laing D5 | XSPC RX 360mm | Koolance RP-452X2 | EK-Supreme HF

I'm not sure what kind of setup he wants, I'll have to ask him if he wants the desk setup or just a case modded etc.

It's really not.... when comparing US prices to UK prices for technology just ignore the currency conversion... the conversion rate is approx the difference we pay extra just for being in the UK.
