CryEngine 3 released: Developer Tools.

The News:

Crytek has released earlier today their CryEngine 3 for everyone to download for absolute no fee at all! That said there are restrictions such as "for non commercial only" so you won't be able to make any profit unless you work out a deal with Crytek.

Personally I think its a brilliant move and alot of people out there who are into world editing and so forth will find this tool very useful, infact those in the industry who are still studying may find this very helpful too as well, giving them some experience.

What is Cry Engine?

CryEngine (usually styled as CryENGINE) is a game engine used for the first-person shooter computer games such as Far Cry and Crysis 2. It was originally developed by Crytek as a technology demo for Nvidia and, when the company saw its potential, it was turned into a game.

When video cards with support for 3.0 pixel and vertex shaders were released, Crytek released version 1.2 of the engine which used some of the capabilities for better graphics.

Where to get it?

You can download CryEngine 3 on Cryteks website which can be found here and for a direct download link go here. The requirements besides having a strong computer are that you will have to make an account with Crytek to be eligible for using this software (email verification required).

Wait students get it for free? How those that work out? :O Wanted Maya so much so I can start learning it, although I am learning to be a Graphic Design (web/print) which is the opposite but its still useful to know more tools + it looks hell of a lot of fun.

Had allot of fun with Cryengine 2. Even tho i was only like 14 or so when i got crysis 1.
