Good to know, is that an ability froakie can start with, or is it a luck of the draw during evolution, or would I be needing that item anyway for that (or do we have any idea at all?)

It's the hidden ability, so the only ways to get it is gonna be that item or an event.

Breeding can't pass / create abilities unfortunately.

Yeah all starters historically have blaze / overgrow / torrent.

The event torchic come with it's hidden ability though!

Ya, this is the only time I've even thought to myself they would have any other ability (besides the hidden ones previously which I never bothered too much with anyway).

It'll be nice that the torchic gets its ability though. I would prefer if it was a cyndaquil though, then I could have both of my favorite pokemon immediately T_T.

But yeah, I'm glad I got X. X has a bunch of my favorites. Houndoom, Mightyena, Aggron. Mega Charizard X has grown on me greatly. Even Swirlix and Grandma Shortcake down there look adorable in sprite-form.

But Y has Cloyster and Skrelp. I shall have you in my Y playthrough, Skrelp! (I've already used a Cloyster. Dat Icicle Spear + Skill Link.)

This is just a thought but I think the movesets can also be different with the forms. I noticed that the NPCs vivillons are mostly the japanese ones and that they all (and the spewpas) have the move harden. The interesting thing is that my Spewpa/Vivillon never learned harden but stun powder instead. Can anyone confirm this? This got me curious >.>

To me, X seems to get all of the cooler exclusives and it's making me really tempted to get it for that reason alone. But since I'm not likely to get either game untill some time next month, I've got time to figure out what exactly gets what in the end.
