Awhile back I decided it would be wickedly cool to connect my home theater's Samsung 5.1 Surround Sound system to my computer. Since HDMI is not possible with the type of sound system (and I don't think the gpu can accept a sound signal anyways) I connected it via the SPDIF connection on my motherboard's sound-card. The sound was rich and loud but no surround sound. I got everything working except the rear and center speakers. If I can recall correctly, the subwoofer was working as well as the left and right front speakers. My main question is: Does SPDIF support more than 2.1 speakers (My motherboard isn't much older than 3 year so the sound card is capable of a 7.1 solution)? How would I go about enabling this option since windows controls my sound options (Vista)?
