I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, I've been hunter for a while didn't play MoP but during WotLK and Cata I had decent dps, but now its just low on every fight..

For starters you have no multistrike. http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/...rafting-Thread Check the stat priorities for the different spec, and you'll see that multistrike is really strong for all the specs.

Then looking at your logs, you seem to be missing some Chimera Shots aswell.

Wow you are the first hunter I have ever seen with literally zero multistrike. Your second best stat as MM (argueably tied for top). IMHO that is your biggest problem. Even if your rotation is flawless you would still pull sub par numbers. Which your rotation is not flawless. You missed about 20 Chimera Shots on a stand still fight which is a huge loss in dps. Not using explosive traps which is a minor dps increase even as MM (cast it at the end of an aimed shot/focusing shot/Steady Shot).

For starters it doesn't look like you're using your pet but you're specced in focusing shot. The top hunter in your imp kill seems to have also done more aoe than you.
On your buthcer kill you're still not using your pet (or atleast I can't see it in your damage breakdown), that's almost a million damage.

I think I had my pet out lol. I usually do. That would be super strange. Possibly just not showing up. I seem to be really bad at AOE right now as survival.

Well taking into account the other hunters pet damage, and then adding that number to yours would put you essentially at the same level as the other hunters.

On your twin ogrons kill you had your pet out. Also, you didn't use barrage to its fullest potential there.

Are you following the correct aoe rotation for survival?

What's the AOE rotation exactly? Barrage obviously, multishot for multidotting what else? Should I explosive shot multiple targets with LnL procs? It lasts for such a short time sometimes idk if it's worth it.

Basically, if there's two targets, use Barrage on cd, and multishot to apply serpent sting to both targets, alternatively arcane shot the second if multi can't reach. If there's three targets use multi shot to dump focus instead of arcane shot.

Hi guys. We are in a lucky position of having 3 survival hunters in our raid, and I'd like to take this opportunity to see how they're all fairing. The one I'm probably most concerned with is Gatu, so feedback on him would be magnificent.

Spec: SV (Fobberry), SV (Gatu), SV (Strlder)
Item Level: 649, 650, 645 (Butcher) // 649, 656, 651 (Koragh - Gatu got a 670 bow)
Expectations: They all perform at the same level for their ilvl

Strlder seems to be the one doing the poorest of the 3 in all honesty. He's not using his cooldowns as they come up. He has less casts of every cooldown than the other 2. None of the 3 are doing exceedingly well, but a hunter seems to be more reliant than many on the cliche: push more buttons, faster. There is nothing that stands out that they are doing wrong, but per their ilvl, all 3 should be doing better. Sorry I couldn't help more. Perhaps others may provide more insight.

Started hunter in 5.4, Survi then BM. Had no probs with rotation and dps. Now I switched to MM and I feel like my DPS is so sensitive...and sometimes I feel that I was focused on rotation, procs, trying to keep Sniper Training all the time, had no delays and my dps is just horrible 16-18k dps.

My dps is kinda the same as it was 640-645. I've asked few hunters for help - seems my rotations is ok. Trying to read many threats, change enchants, gems, some gear rotations. Ofc with all thats shit hunters have to do on Highmaul Im not able to maintain nice dps or be in range all the time. Prolly bad timings and "small" mistakes - delaying RF on opener whet I have no ToTH up, or I use barrage/glaive toss when I shouldnt or when I could just skip it. Trying to prioritize Aimed Shot when above 85%, I always watch for stacked mobs for 2 hit Chimeara's. Im not watching my trinkets (which r bad tbh) - thats true, maybe I should delay RF when ToTH and trinkets r up? Trying to keep my focus ~60, and ofc more when both Chimeara and Barrage CDs r near end. Also tried to keep focus ~90 and get it down with Aimed Shots, and again spaming Steady Shots to almost max focus. Ofcourse when my ToTH is up I try to have ~60 focus and I spam only Aimed Shots + chimeara until ToTH is up. Have no idea why my dps is so low.

When testing on the 102lvl dummy on 4 min "fight" (2x RF CD) Skada shows ~22k dps (those WoD dummies now r "smarter" so they're not always full life which is lil bit more accurate for hunter dps -> more dmg above 85% and below 35%). Im using AskMrRobot with stat custom weights from mmo-champ theorycrafting threat.

And strange thing - no matter which stat i ench/gem - crit or multistrike it gives me the same results, which r ~20k dps on constant ~10 min fight. Its slightly better on adds, when you have to snipe those above 85% and below 35%, but still as for my ilvl I know it should be better. Hunter with 10 ilvl less than me makes 2-4k more dps.

Imperator is a good fight for SV. This tier in particular my 2 specs are SV and BM. SV and MM are SO close on single target fights that it's almost indistinguishable and doesn't suffer near as much from movement. BM exceeds in AoE fights such as Tectus and is similar in DPS on other fights. I only use MM for Proving Grounds for the burst. I would suggest perhaps using SV instead of MM and either have MM or BM as your second spec.

As far as looking at your logs... what I see is Chim shot not being cast on CD. There may be reasons for this such as being the designated kiter for the brands or not having enough focus. I would suggest taking GT on every fight but Tectus and maybe brackenspore. I see you went in the stands for Kargath which makes it a good pick there, but for Imp I'd us GT and if you're not already using it on the other fights that might help your focus usage.

My best suggestion would be to find/make a weak aura string to help you time your Chim shots or use an addon like JSHB.

Also, we don't mind your English! Most native English speakers don't have proper grammar and we appreciate the effort.

Thats awesome to hear that MM is not one and only viable spec anymore. Would love to change the spec, but since the Highmaul is open for raiding my loot spec is set to MM. Does the drops for MM differ from those for SV? Can I achieve good stat weights only by changing my 4 gems and 4 enchs?

Yeah thats true - most of the time im the only one hunter in my small guild so almost every boss there r some special jobs for me (Like running and blocking sporeshooters or taking brands from the melee). Focus in not a problem, but there r many situations, when I delay Chimeara couse I dont want to stopcast my Aimed Shot (~1 second of AS cast and 2xGCD wasted when i /stopcast and use Chimeara right when it goes off cd, so I think it's not worth it. Ofc i stopcast other spell. Steady Shots for example).

Im using JSHB but how can it improve my Chimearas timing over the traditional second on the spell icon? I use OmniCC for those so i see how many seconds do I have to next Chimeara. Also I know how many focus I should have to cast it, how long does it take to cast Aimed Shot + GCD and will I be able to put another Aimed Shot before Chimeara got off CD? When Im runing aroung, avoiding mines, watching for fire, mountains, taking brands from the players and runing with them to the safe distance so I have to admit there are some situations when I forgot to watch my focus, but than blinking Chim Shot spell icon is alerting me so much that I auto-press it like a robot Because of that running and in addition because MM like no other hunter spec have cast times even on it's focus dumper spells often its hard for me to time all my casts correctly.

So I made some changes to the gear according to AMR and huner custom values from mmo-champ hunter tranistion guide. But no matter which spec Im playing i still have ~20k. I think it's slitghtly better on survi, but ofc not always. Im pasting logs from todays raids:

First issue I see is your use of Barrage on Single Target. Cut that out of your rotation and that will help. I am comparing your logs to mine and I feel if you remove Barrage from your rotation, you should see more SrS ticks. I had 729.1k dmg from regular ticks and you had 339.1k dmg from regular tickets.

Yes, use Glaive Toss on CD as part of your rotation in single target.

Differences:
~20 seconds in duration will change some numbers a little
Serpent Sting uptime: your 84% versus my 97%
You chose Barrage where I chose Glaive Toss
You're using Explosive Trap and I am not (simcraft apparently shows this as a DPS gain but I'm not sold on it)
You're using Cobra Shot WAY more often than I am, likely because Barrage costs 60 focus instead of Glaive Toss' 15

I feel like if you chose Glaive Toss over Barrage and/or possibly chose Focusing Shot instead of Lone Wolf that some of your other issues would fix themselves. I also use Steady Focus while playing MM, but you'll want to use TotH as SV, at least that's my recommendation.

I'm consistently lower than most of the hunters in my raid group. While they are more geared, I am noticing differences in casts and ss uptime. I realise this isn't the best log to link, but its the most recent one I've got. I'll try to update with a better one this week. I think I'm also having trouble using barrage in my rotation consistently, so I use GT when I can. Also as I've just switched to SV I have a lot of crit chants left on my gear, which I will fix soon.

BA uptime and casting Explosive Shot on CD. In one of our wipes here which is 10s longer than your kill I cast 81 explosive shots to your 64 and you had 1 MORE LnL proc than me.

Was curious to see how you went on twins. Your uptime of serpent sting was only 70% on Phemos. If you kept it up to the 94% uptime that you had it on Pol, that alone would be an increase of 545k dmg (which over 5 mins would be a ~2k dps gain). Explosive Trap is also higher priority than arcane shot (without ToTH proc) if the boss won't move out of it, and that's just single target.

For the rest it's as previously said, your black arrow and explosive shot uptime can improve
