You’ll be able to experience this new feature soon on the PTR.

Shop at the Trader’s Corner

A new set of traders will be moving their wares into the capital cities of Stormwind and Orgrimmar—T&W (Tawny and Wilder) and Zen’shiri Trading Posts. You’ll find T&W just outside of the Mage District in Stormwind and the Zen’shiri Trading Post next to Grommash Hold in Orgrimmar. Our trader friends have pulled out all the stops and have set up their shop so you can view the new items of the month prominently on display right at their shop. They’ll have transmogs on mannequins, pets at their feet, and mounts secured in their stable. Speak to the traders to see this month’s wares.

A Home for Creative Cosmetics

There are a multitude of interesting transmog, pet, and mount possibilities in Azeroth, limited only by imagination. The Trading Post will serve as a home for many more items from across Azeroth— and beyond—and is not limited by the current game content. You can expect to see a variety of fun new items to add to your collection.

Opening the possibilities allows for a wide variety of different goods to be brought to the Trading Post and players can expect the unexpected in each month’s new catalogue!

How It Works

To obtain these unique cosmetic items, you will need to acquire a new account-wide currency called “Trader’s Tender.” This can be earned in two ways:

  • Automatically each month: Just by logging in and heading to the Trading Post, you can collect 500 Trader’s Tender every month from a chest called the Collector’s Cache.
  • By completing monthly activities in the Traveler’s Log: A monthly set of activities provides the opportunity to earn up to 500 additional Trader’s Tender.

We’ll be iterating on this new feature as we test on the PTR. The final Trader’s Tender amounts are subject to change.

Get Tender Every Month

At the first of each month, players with an active account in good standing will receive a set amount of Trader’s Tender automatically. If you don’t have active game time on your account or aren’t a subscriber at the start of a new month, don’t worry. Your Tender will be awarded the first day of the month when you do have game time or an active subscription. This will be the same amount for everyone, regardless of how you pay for your game time.

The Traveler’s Log

The second way to earn Trader’s Tender is to complete monthly activities listed in the new Traveler’s Log. Each month features a rotating, themed set of activities. There’s only a set amount of Tender you can earn each month through completing activities, so you won’t need to complete all the ones in the log each month. You’ll be able to pick and choose from a variety of fun in-game activities to easily earn Tender. Players can choose to earn by continuing to play the game as they already do such as completing quests, competing in battlegrounds, taking part in holiday activities, and even running Mythic+ dungeons. But you can also choose to take part in activities uniquely designed for the month.

You’ll be able to view these activities and your progress in the Adventure Guide (Shift-J) in the new Traveler’s Log. A bar at the top of the User Interface (UI) will show your progress in earning Trader’s Tender each. At certain thresholds, Trader’s Tender will be deposited into your Collector’s Cache for pickup. Additional Trader’s Tender is also obtained by filling the bar, but that’s not all…

Monthly Rotation

On the first of the month, the traders will obtain new items and update the activities in the Traveler’s Log for the new month. Items that are rotated out of their inventory won’t be gone for good though—they’ll rotate back into the inventory in future months—giving players who missed them the first time another opportunity to add them to their collections. The Trading Post will also include cosmetics from promotions that are no longer available as well as items normally available for cash purchase on the in-game store as purchasable items with Trader’s Tender instead. This provides an alternative way for players to obtain these items.

Getting a Glimpse of the Future

This is just the start of what we hope will be a rewarding new system for players to further personalize their character and their experiences within World of Warcraft. We’ll be looking toward additional opportunities to provide the community with even more ways to add to their collections and express themselves everywhere they go in Azeroth.

Keep an eye on the upcoming PTR where you’ll get a chance to try the new feature for yourself. We look forward to hearing your feedback as we continue to develop this new feature.

Oh good, another feature to maximize retention by exploiting fomo.

I am, yes. Since it amounts to at most the same amount of currency and does not provide a catch-up nor does it in any way add anything new to the game.

could this also be the first step into free to play under microsoft?

what fomo trigger? nothing goes away, they rotate, and if you want something but don't have enough currency and don't want to wait till it comes back, you can freeze it, so it stays till you buy it.

There's literally store mounts in the list too.
I don't know where people are getting this fear that it's going to be one and done, never coming back.

    Or paid for, either.

Like, why would Blizzard put store mounts on there just to sell them when they already sell it normally.

It gives you 1000. So double the log-in bonus. That's not the same.

And okay - if it were tied to some new system you know damn well that people would complain. Getting some random activities to explore, re-visit old content is something people constantly ask for.

    just have it limited.
So how does having it limited stop people from doing exactly what you said with the monthly cap? They'll just "find the fastest and easiest way to farm it, even if its a boring af abusive exploit, and then farm that..." until cap and then repeat next month ad infinitum.

Regardless of that, my suggestion was slightly make tasks worthwhile throughout the month with a small reward rather than completely pointless after a point. Sure some people are going to try and find a way to optimise finishing tasks (news flash: this isn't news) even with the monthly limit but tasks and a store that refresh monthly would be and should be the block to being "done" with it and not some arbitrary set limit for fomo reasons.

Extra mog and mounts and extra stuff to do is always a good thing in my book.
    I like it.

Have you not read the post?
I feel like you should go back and read the post, because these do not drop, they are earned through doing activities, and these activities change every month with a theme.
you arnt "going killing centaurs for 8 hours"
you kill centaurs for 5 minutes
    go pet a dragon
    slay a dragon boss
take a picture infront of a dragon skeleton
    dragon ride for 30 minutes
dragon ride without touching the ground for a straight 3 minutes
fish up temporal dragonheads for 5 minutes.
    etc.

They have changed recruit a friend rewards before. The rewards also depend on how much game time the recruit purchases. A time gate for rewards lol. You don't even know how long it will take for you to 100% complete each months activities and are already whining about the system. Do you honestly think you'll 100% everything? Did you already grind out all your renown in Dragonflight to rank 30? You are just inventing reasons to hate on the system before the details are even worked out and tested.

Maybe wait until the acquisition actually happens before attributing design decisions to it.

These have been in the works for a long time, the trading post buildings and quests for them hinting at a new feature were added in 9.2.5.

all they have to do to make this not shit is to remove the rotating inventory. just keep the inventory available at all times and just add to it as time goes on...

rotating inventories are awful and benefit noone.

Considering that the official forums are marked by the same division in sentiment towards this addition, your statement is factually incorrect.

FelPlague do you literally forget what you post 5 minutes afterwards? I quoted you suggesting it would be farmable, in my original post you responded to I suggested that after the cap reward was earned, players should earn a small reward if they participated in further activites during the month.

    ?
The strategy is to make people fear that they are missing out, therefore preventing them from letting their subscription lapse for a month or two during content lulls. It's really not that difficult of a concept and a well documented behavior game developers exploit.

It remains to be seen how long these rotations (or second chances, as they described it) will take. It certainly reminds me of the "awsome" corruption vendor rotation back at the end of BfA that was also well received. Well, at least this time no player power is involved.

What if you want to make a few months break from the game due irl stuff... or just bored between patches?

    Again...
"So how does having it limited stop people from doing exactly what you said with the monthly cap? They'll just "find the fastest and easiest way to farm it, even if its a boring af abusive exploit, and then farm that..." until cap and then repeat next month ad infinitum."

Because of how it is currently, that is not possible, you cant just "find the fastest and easiest way to farm it"
that is not how it works, if you make it infinitely farmable, then you make a way to farm it...

do you not see the point?
there is no way to farm it at all currently, there is no "fastest boring speedrun exploit"

and no as you now say here that would be impossible, because there would still be a cap, there is only so many things.

you get credit for hugging 1 dragon, you cant just hug dragons forever, unless you make them all infinitely farmable, which then suddenly breaks the system and as i said now makes it exploitable, and required.
