hmmm repeat of Tol'Barad anyone? *everyone swams in to solely do archeology for a week* *Blizzard then lowers it down to just above its original amount*

i just shat a brick, I've been holding onto all my artifacts incase they change them to something useful.
ifthis is mirrored in the other trees... i might have enough gold from this change to buy the sandstone drake.

I've been stuffing my archaeology rares into my bank ever since the announcement of prices being upped somewhat. The amounts of gold that I've pumped into buying Tol'vir hieroglyphics is mind-boggling. Good to see I'm in for a bit of a treat. It won't be much in comparison, but I'm grateful nonetheless.

Word of Empress Zoe x2 in the bank. Both of them assembled yesterday. I hope they'll leave the numbers like that. That's 2 hieroglyphics paid back right there when they were still 1k each.

Hmm I gave up on Arch a while back, pleases me to see that I never actually had the ring. Perhaps I might go back and start farming again while I wait for BGs.

why are people so greedy? If the gas price was 3.00 the day that you buy it, and tomorrow it went down to 2.75, you dont expect to "get your money back" do you? Or perhaps the ridiculous prices on the AH first weeks of (insert expansion) release. Those who want it first will get it first, but expect to pay a larger sum of money.

Also for people complaining about blizzard being halfminded and couldnt fix a problem "that every human being with even half a brain can see them." Because everyone gets everything right the first time around? Perhaps next we should blame any government official (or anyone for that matter) for messing up here and there. At least they're trying to fix it, even if its a while in the expansion, they acted instead of leaving it how it is.

If people do not like it, do not buy it. You are not entitled to anything past what they allow you for renting THEIR Merchandise.

OT: i'm rather excited about the new archaeology prices. Alas, it probably still wont motivate me to keep going lol.

I can just see it happening, word of being able to make upto a 1000g per artifact will reach the uninformed "masses" out there. They will start the profession just for the gold without a clue what else there is to get, and in typically cruel rng fashion will be running around with the weapons some of us have been farming for weeks.

I will be missing out on about 5k with these prize changes, I just checked, I've had 4 of that "word of Empress Zoe" (over 2 chars). Not that it bothers me much, it's not like I don't have gold.

This is familiar of the changes to Dual Spec costs when it started at 1000g, then down to 100g, and now sitting on 10g.

Heh, yeah... I spent 9k on dual spec, and don't get me started on the amounts I spent for every level of riding/cold weather flying before reductions/rep discounts on multple toons.

They have YEARS of experience and they know their community. It was obvious that this wasn't going to fly.

At least they're trying to fix it, even if its a while in the expansion, they acted instead of leaving it how it is.

No they don't thats the whole point! They don't even touch Archs real problems, despite having T O N S of suggestions and problem analysis' in their own forums. They are just dishing out band aid fixes in the hopes that peeps will put up with Archs flaws when they make the dangling carrot bigger. lol. Arch doesn't need to be fixed. It needs to be REDONE. completely.

all i see is QQ and nerd rage over gold LOL! guess they are trying to make arch interesting. why dont they give use stuff we can acutally use with it. i for one could care less about the gold. oh well have fun with this. and it you think this will fix the economy i LOL in your face. the economy has been fuxed on this game for the last 6 years.

i couldnt agree with you more but it will not be done. this is blizz. they havent done anything really right in the last 5 yrs..

Right... heres a newsflash for you: I already have more gold IG than I could possibly need. So Gold for me is a non issue.

I'm NOT going to explain to you in Detail what my problem witch arch is, because you in your ignorance wouldn't be able to read such a text wall anyway.

TLDR Version just for you (yes, you may feel special now):
1. I'm Forced to dig for races I already have completed (commen & rares).
2. STUPID RNG based system with multiple layers, no progression towards a goal whatsoever regardless of time investment.
3. 95% Of my playtime consists of watching my flying mounts ass.

Lets be honest, most peeps will never ever see an epic from arch that they can use, so all it gives you for your hours of boredom is gold.

Honestly, that's what you're paying for. To be bored for hours. You don't really get anything from this game other than pretty colours, big numbers and perhaps a place to talk to your friends/something to talk to your friends about.

Archaeology was meaningless as a way of generating money. Now, farming dwarf sites, assuming 6 dwarf solves an hour (which is assuming a lot) and one of them being the 1000g one, you can expect about 600g an hour. Which is comparable to other methods of farming like junkboxes. But Blizzard has absolutely no requirement to homogenise every method of making money, nor will they ever do so.

and your view of archaeology is biased. If you did archaeology while levelling up and doing the occasional digsite while questing in a zone, as you would with fishing, you probably wouldn't have such a dim view of it... Or if you farmed out fishing like you farmed out archaeology, all in a row fishing in Stormwind canals, you'd probably be on the forums complaining about how fishing doesn't generate enough money and how mud snappers should vendor for 100g.

While I absolutely agree that Archaeology is stupid and broken, and that the fact is obvious to everyone (yes even Blizzard); Blizzard have priorities. There are a million ways to improve WoW and there are a finite number of resources with which to make those improvements.

I can tell you this: If any software company managed their projects like MMO kids expect (follow the ADHD trail of "what pisses me off today" and fix it), they would never, not even in a million years, release a single piece of software.

My main was 80 and is nor 85. Your argument is invalid. The amount of invested time changes nothing.

Thats how I leveled fishing, back in the day where waters were level-restricted. And no i never complained. Why? Because Fishing is CONTROLLABLE (as Arch is controllable during the level process. Actually leveling Arch is fine except for the eternity you spend afk flying. The problems start when your skill is maxed out.) No RNG that screws you over and over. (unless you hunt for pets/mounts ofc.)

Then they should have delayed its release to 4.1. They scrapped PotT because it was "no good" Hell HOW ON EARTH could they think Arch was "good"? To be blunt: Arch doesn't even closely live up to the standards i'm used to getting from Blizzard.

So most items are still not worth anything, but you might once in a blue moon get something of value? Its still very much a waste of time unless you really really love digging in dirt.
