Now that Stars has defeated Heroic Madness of Deathwing 25, KIN Raiders has released their video of the kill.



Statistics: Weapon Transmogrification
As a part of our continued statistics posts, we looked at the most popular weapons used for transmogrification. The results below are broken down by class, with a clear preference for weapon models from Burning Crusade. Disregarding cloaks and counting duplicate items as two different items we find the following:


  • 62% of the top 5 items are from Burning Crusade.
    • 31% of the top 5 items are Burning Crusade PvP items.
    • 31% of the top 5 items are Burning Crusade PvE items.
  • 20% of the top 5 items are from Classic.
  • 18% of the top 5 items are from Wrath of the Lich King.
  • 0% of the top 5 items are from Cataclysm.

    Clearly the BC weapons dominate transmog because of nostalgia. Oh wait, wouldn't Classic be dominating if that was the reason?

    If that transmog statistic says anything, it's that players want variety even if it's mediocre looking weapons. Cata was beautifully made, but all looked the same.

    BC holds so much of this because of the Brutal gear - it looks decent and it's dirt cheap.

    Im curious as to how you got these figures. Currently just seems you pulled them out of thin air. Apologies if I missed something you wrote, just curious about where the stats came from.

    Looks like I'm not the only one to use Pillar of Ferocity for my staffs, but Black Ice for polearms is still pretty rare.

    From Blizzard ofc. mmo-champion is Blizzard's advertisement. Only Blizzard would have these kind of stats available. They didn't say sample size or anything about how data was collected so would be logical to assume it is Blizzard internal numbers or just made up.
