What i dont understand is, are those real trademarks blizz did order or are those just nicely done fake urls and jpgs from some troll on the web?

Pretty sure its impossible to have access to preliminary filings and you only have the ones that get publisched in TESS. So hoax seems to originate from MMOC.

Actually the trademark for the dark below has been linked back to the government website and it is real.

I think those Corgis are far more scary than a Zergling Rush.

I still don't know if I'd call 'The Dark Below' a hoax. Considering the timing between the other trademarks and BlizzCons in the past, this one does seem to link up pretty well.

If anything, this makes Dark Below seem a lot more likely to me. Remember the masks before Cataclysm was announced? We got a real leak of Worgen/Goblins, then Blizzard quickly released a bunch of silly fake masks to make the real ones seem fake. Seems like the same thing here.

Read the article. Anyone can file under Blizzard's name, and is only an application.

So yes, the application is real, but is completely meaningless since anyone could have done it.

So Dark Below really was a hoax. It's not even something that Blizzard did as a red herring. Just a full blown hoax from some internet troll.

For me, as long as those applications lack serial numbers (they have been taken in) I would say they are fake. One would think it won't take many days for them to register them in.

But how do you know that it wasn't made by some random dude?

What I don't understand is. We haven't got anything like this in the past. So how will we actually know if a trademark is actually legit or not?

I'd actually like Below & Corgis to both happen....
