They used this way to talk about heroes for some longer time, but I think it may be a role rework this time. They need to do more fan service now.

When the game started we were getting a new hero every 3-4 weeks. We got 16(17 if you count Cho and Gall as 2 separate heroes) in 2015, 15 in 2016, 15 in 2017, then with the "slowed hero release time" in 2018 we still ended up with 9 heroes. Cutting it down to 4 per year is still over a 50% decrease in heroes released.

they can't keep the same release pace since the game will be overloaded with heroes and impossible to manage. 4 heroes per your is still a lot if heroes AND update old ones (and practice of leaving old heroes in a ditch IMO is way worse than releasing less heroes).

Yes, they slowed down the pace in 2018, and even with that slow down we still got 9 heroes and multiple reworks. So with a reduced staff obviously they will have to cut down more of course. So cutting the hero releases by more than half should still allow for reworks too(and keep in mind, not everyone needs a rework).

This is a really good point worth repeating.

I want to believe that they'll up their work on hero rework and balancing (since it doesn't require that much workpower to do, designing and making new heroes takes way more people than fixing/remaking existing stuff), balancing HotS is different from other dota-likes because they have talents instead of items and economy of the game, in best case of these events we will have better balanced game with more healthy heroes (imagine chen, probius, TLV being actually balanced and usable in games?), because each released hero requires (should require) them to get back to all existing heroes and see how new hero will fuck everything up (see Orphea release - she made all other mid-range mages obsolete by simply existing). But if they stick to it too much - they'll end up with bland and uninspired new heroes, so they basically have to release a new hero coupled with bunch of old hero reworks (look up league of legends mage update back in time for how all these things affect each other, they released so much new heroes that old mage heroes became literally obsolete dumpster tier, stuck in shade of new, sparkly heroes with flashy and powerful plays)

Cloaken voices stuff for SC2 aswell, so he'll probably atleast keep doing voicework for HotS. I'm not sure if it's been confirmed that he's moving to another team either.

Cloaken is on paternity leave currently, so it might be some time before we know whether he's actually still on the team or not.
