Patch 8.3 PTR - Legendary Cloak Guide
Wrathion returns in Visions of N'Zoth, and of course he is bringing along a new legendary cloak to aid us in our fight against the Old God. Here is what you need to know about this legendary cloak, Ashjra'kamas, Shroud of Resolve.

Note: Engineers cannot enchant this cloak with Goblin Glider.

How to Obtain
Acquiring the initial item level 470 Ashjra'kamas, Shroud of Resolve is not hard at all. In fact, you will receive it just by accepting and completing the Black Empire Campaign quest chain upon logging in on patch day. Here is a guide for all parts of the chain. Part 3 specifically deals with the scenario to unlock the cloak.

How to Upgrade Your Cloak
Your Ashjra'kamas, Shroud of Resolve will start off humble without any perks other than being 470 item level with 5 corruption resistance, but don't let this fool you. Your primary goal this patch is going to be entering Horrific Visions in order to upgrade your cloak and obtain massive benefits that not only increase its power, but also your corruption resistance and even the appearance!

Increasing the Rank of Your Cloak
Now that you know what you need to do to enter Horrific Visions, now is a good time to explain what completing them does for your cloak. Ashjra'kamas, Shroud of Resolve can increase in rank for a total of 15 times before reaching max rank. Every time you increase the rank of your cloak, the following happens.

  • Its item level increases by 2.
  • Its corruption resistance increases, allowing you to potentially wear more corrupted gear.
  • You gain a passive decrease to sanity loss in Horrific Visions by 20% by equipping the cloak. This percentage goes up as the cloak's rank increases.
  • At rank 6, your cloak will receive an on-use effect with a 3 minute cooldown that will dispel any negative corruption effects currently happening to you (by having too high of corruption from gear) and make you immune to these effects for 6 seconds.
  • At ranks 5 and 12 the appearance of your cloak will change.
  • At rank 12 the cloak will also gain the Draconic Empowerment proc effect that has a chance to increase your primary stat for 15 seconds.

Appearance Change
The cloak will change to the middle appearance at rank 5 and the right one at rank 12.

Quest Items Needed for Rank Upgrades
After unlocking Horrific Visions and receiving rank 1 of your cloak, Wrathion will give you a quest to collect the following items from Horrific Visions after each rank up:

  • Ranks 2 - 5
    • Rank 2: The Curse of Stone - Obtained by killing the main boss of Horrific Visions (Alleria or Thrall) and looting the chest at the end. Failing to kill the boss will result in you not obtaining the item for that specific Horrific Vision attempt.
    • Ranks 3 - 5: Torn Page of "The Curse of Stone" - Obtained by killing the main boss of Horrific Visions (Alleria or Thrall) and looting the chest at the end. Failing to kill the boss will result in you not obtaining the item for that specific Horrific Vision attempt.
  • Ranks 6 - 11
    • Rank 6: Fear and Flesh - Found by completing Corrupted or Lost areas of Horrific Visions and looting the chest at the end. These can be seen on the map before starting a Vision by talking to Wrathion before using your vessel. They drain your sanity more and contain harder enemies. Corrupted are less difficult than Lost areas, which are the hardest. The final boss of the Horrific Vision (Alleria or Thrall) doesn't need to be killed as long as you complete the objective of the bonus area.
    • Rank 7 - 11: Torn Page of "Fear and Flesh" - Found by completing Corrupted or Lost areas of Horrific Visions and looting the chest at the end. These can be seen on the map before starting a Vision by talking to Wrathion before using your vessel. They drain your sanity more and contain harder enemies. Corrupted are less difficult than Lost areas, which are the hardest. Each rank will require more pages. The final boss of the Horrific Vision (Alleria or Thrall) doesn't need to be killed as long as you complete the objective of the bonus area.
  • Ranks 12 - 15 (Not 100% confirmed source, but likely scenario)
    • Rank 12: The Final Truth - Found by completing Lost areas of Horrific Visions and looting the chest at the end. These can be seen on the map before starting a Vision by talking to Wrathion before using your vessel. They drain your sanity the most out of all areas and have the hardest enemies. The final boss of the Horrific Vision (Alleria or Thrall) doesn't need to be killed as long as you complete the objective of the bonus area.
    • Ranks 13 - 15: Torn Page of "The Final Truth" - Found by completing Lost areas of Horrific Visions and looting the chest at the end. These can be seen on the map before starting a Vision by talking to Wrathion before using your vessel. They drain your sanity the most out of all areas and have the hardest enemies. Each rank will require more pages. The final boss of the Horrific Vision (Alleria or Thrall) doesn't need to be killed as long as you complete the objective of the bonus area.
  • Further Progression
    • Your cloak stops ranking up at 15, but you can continue running Horrific Visions with masks active (unlocked in visions to create modifiers you can activate to increase the difficulty further) or by killing N'Zoth on normal or above once a week to receive Malefic Core to further your corruption resistance by 3 each week. At rank 15 the cloak will have 50 corruption resistance and you can keep increasing it until it reaches 125 corruption resistance.

Vestments of the Eternal Traveler Transmogrification Set

Since the BlizzCon announcement of Shadowlands, we’ve seen concerns about whether it is intended that the quest for the Vestments of the Eternal Traveler transmogrification set can obtained from another player’s Ensorcelled Everwyrm mount.

This is not a bug. Access to this transmogrification set is a bonus available to anyone who purchases Shadowlands. While the Heroic Edition and Epic Edition also grant the Ensorcelled Everwyrm flying mount that summons the questgiver Xolartios, anyone who has purchased Shadowlands can interact with the questgiver and earn the transmog set. The quest for the Vestments of the Eternal Traveler will also remain available to all WoW accounts that have upgraded to Shadowlands after the launch of Shadowlands.

The questgiver does not offer the quest and rewards to player characters who have not yet pre-purchased Shadowlands.

Issue with Guild Chat Channels

WoW Classic - Juju Flurry Buff - Not a Bug

We would like to mention that the Juju Flurry buff is currently matching the behavior exhibited in the 1.12 reference client. Juju Flurry behaves similarly to Seal of the Crusader in that it increases your attack speed but also lowers your DPS by the same amount.

We also did some digging into our bug database from the Original WoW era and found that we had in fact filed a bug for this behaviour while the original game was current, but the issue was not actually fixed until the Burning Crusade pre-patch (patch 2.0.3). As this bug was present throughout Original WoW, we do not currently consider it to be a bug and is merely an aspect of the original game that was carried over into Classic.

Thank you!

There are a couple of bugs with Wraithchill that were present in 8.2.5, and are fixed in Visions of N’Zoth. Looking through them, they appear to be unintended conflicts with other things that made the illusion go away.

Again – fixed with the update coming in 4 days. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Cloaks in Patch 8.3
From my understanding, existing cloaks will still drop (ie, you can get them from questing, Eternal Palace, catch-up systems and the like), but there are no cloaks from the new raid, and the weekly chest was supposedly adjusted so it doesn’t drop any cloaks.

Just wanted to reinforce what he said.
Existing cloaks will still drop (like quests, Eternal Palace, catch-up systems, etc.), but there are no cloaks from Ny’alotha, and the weekly chests (M+ and PvP) were adjusted so they don’t drop cloaks either. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

What to Expect in Visions of N’Zoth and Season 4
Question, will we get residuum out of the cache on the 21st? since you say residuum is back on the 21st and we get rewards from caches again will there be residuum FROM the cache that we acquire on the 21st? like reduced to season 4 amounts? or will we not get any out of a cache until the following week on the 28th?
After the content update (in this region, on Tuesday, January 14 starting at 7:00 a.m. PST), we remain in Season 3 for one week. So any Mythic Keystone rewards chests that you’ll open any time before the weekly reset on Tuesday, January 28 (in this region) will be Season 3 chests. They will not contain Titan Residuum.

Those chests will reward double the usual AP.

In Visions of N’Zoth, Titan Residuum is only obtainable from Season 4 chests and Season 4 Azerite items. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums)

Patch 8.3 Cloak Progression
Am I reading it wrong or does this say it’s going to take 42 weeks to max out cloak since you can only get one drop a week?
“1 drop across all sources” = 3 resistance a week. 125/3=42 ish

And that’s only after you grind to rank 15

Just reiterating what was said by someone else, but at rank 15, the legendary cloak will have 50 Corruption Resistance at which point you’ll be able to earn a Malefic Core each week which will further increase the resistance by 3 each time. You will have the ability to get the legendary cloak to rank 15 faster than in 15 weeks.

I do not know what these ‘adjustments’ will mean, but will something be done to lower Operation Mechagon to a Heroic Dungeon
Yes, it will be at Heroic level when Operation Mechagon goes live with the two parts. (Blue Tracker / Official Forums

Blackwing Lair

Should he prove successful, even darker pursuits rest on the horizon. And, yet, the Lord of Blackrock is not a mere scientist - he is a great dragon cornered in his lair. Can he truly be defeated by mortal hands?

The Blackwing Lair attunement quest, “Blackhand’s Command”, will become available on all realms tomorrow, Friday, January 10.

The Argent Dawn, Thorium Brotherhood, Timbermaw Hold, Silverwing Sentinels, and Warsong Outriders faction vendors now offer reputation reward items that were added in patches 1.6 and 1.7 of original WoW.

Eternal Quintessence
Players who complete “Hands of the Enemy” and reach Revered reputation with Hydraxian Waterlords may now obtain Eternal Quintessence from Duke Hydraxis.

Darkmoon Faire – Coming Earlier in February
A gathering of the exotic from around the world and beyond, Silas Darkmoon has brought together the Darkmoon Faire as a celebration of the wondrous and mysterious found in Azeroth. While the Faire spends most of their time in parts unknown, they do stop from time to time in Mulgore and Elwynn Forest. When the faire is on its way barkers will stop by Orgrimmar and Ironforge to announce its arrival.

The first Darkmoon Faire in WoW Classic will get underway in early February, with barkers and the Faire setup appearing on Friday, February 7, and the festivities opening on Monday, February 10. Look for the many Darkmoon Cards that make up the beasts, elementals, portals, and warlords sets to begin dropping from enemies and bosses on Wednesday, February 5.
