You can't really gauge much off of the beta since it's just such a small portion of Act 1 and only let's you hit lv 13.

Ignoring the bullshit argument to actually answer your question.
It begins easy in the first act, the difficulty only really ramps up once you hit nightmare from what I know. And inferno is tuned very high, along with being at level cap so it can't be outleveled.
If you only get fun out of the challenge, expect to be bored until you hit nightmare and beyond.

And it IS a bad thing. It's really really boring that you can't ever be in danger or die. It's just dull.
It's not good for new players either. Everyone could level up effectively in Classic wow when leveling was more difficult.
Late game has the benefit of having difficulty levels. It can reasonably have easy and hard content without anyone being left out.
But there is only one difficulty to leveling and it is way too low.
(Going without a spec and gear is not a difficulty level, it's a challenge. It removes so much from the leveling experience. You don't make raids harder by going in without gear)
Wait your saying that solo play is no longer challenging in wow??? It has never been challanging, at leas not in Burning Crusade or in Wrath.
Leveling took a lot of time previously, but that wasn't challenging, it was more boring than everything else. Especially with disfunctional quests that made you travel to a zone across the world to reward you with a blue which in Vanilla was useful but outside of vanilla was crap and therefore a waste of time.
Cata leveling isnt nerfed. its more streamlined, Its Quicker not easier.

As I say, leveling was never hard before. It was time consuming, yes maybe you die less, but leveling shouldn't be about dying, and guess what this is an MMO the game should only really have its Challenge in multiplayer content, if you play an mmo solo your not paying an mmo.
For the Alliance, and for Azeroth!
Closing this, it seems more like an attack on WoW and anyone who would disagree with you, than a constructive discussion. No game is going to be the perfect difficulty level for everyone and people enjoy different things, insulting people just because they don't agree with your perfect idea of difficulty is not constructive at all.
