Thumbs up What if Blizzard increased Expansion Pricing

If Blizzard decided to increase their New expansion pricing to the following amounts:

    • $80 for the base expansion
    • $110 for the deluxe edition
    • $150 for the Collector's Edition

Would you still purchase the new expansions? Obviously translated into pounds and euros at the current rate if you live in Europe.

Personally, I would 100% continue to always purchase the collector's edition. At $150 you can be sure there would be some sweet exclusive statue or another physical goodie that you couldn't get anywhere else.

The Overwatch Collectors edition was $150 and it was well worth it.

I feel like with inflation lately and the world economy doing very well, Blizzard could justify a price increase in this manner. Also, sub prices have not changed since the game was released. The only change has been in Europe where the currency exchange rates effect the price of subs.

Depends. Do they up the quality or quantity of content to justify the increase Jay?

No. There's no way in my mind that I could justify paying $80 for an expansion to a game I already pay $15/month for, when I can just go buy a brand new game for $20 less.

And I sincerely doubt that Blizzard would do this. They'd be shooting themselves in the foot, considering box sales from expansions make up only a small portion of their profits.

Looks like it. Not a bait thread at all.
Funny thing: I don't even remember how much I had to pay for Legion, I didn't mind the price of highest option for Path of Fire, but somehow I don't feel like paying more than 20 quid for any new WoW patch.

Well for the deluxe and collectors it would be pretty standard to what we have been used to, but at the $150 price point, it would have more than what the WoW collector's editions typically have. Like a collector's statue, or some other cool physical item along with the standard art book, music cd, cinematic dvd, etc.

I've been buying Collectors Edition's of all of Blizzard's games since 2004, I wouldn't stop now.

I think it'd become the excuse I am waiting for to "justify" buying ESO and giving it a try.
And of course, I would be back. What are we if not slaves to this torment?

Its not out of the realm of possibility.

Games studios are starting to go down the path of heavily paid DLC and other options when they sell the physical copies of their products. Even the base games that are being sold have extras they add to justify the price increases.

Shouldn't we be speculating about something like paid races in the store or something along those lines, then?

Absolutely wouldn't buy. I already feel that the expansions are overpriced given the monthly sub fee we have to pay also.

You think $50 dollars is over priced?

$50 dollars for hundreds of hours of entertainment seems like a good deal to me. Actually its a GREAT deal, which is why I really do think they could justify a price increase for their expansions going forward.

Sure, that is a good value if you weren't also paying $15 every month as well.

What about if it were $800? Or maybe $8,000?
