And even than i ask: what is his true nature? Being that asshat with all negative characteristics in a game because there you can be all that without fearing real consequences while you have to hide that "dark side" of yours in real life because you have to lose to much if you would show your true self.

It is dangerous to draw conclusions from someones behavior without seeing them eye to eye. But the behavior shown in the anonymity of a virtual room without fearing real consequences might be an indicator about how someone really is and that he might be wearing a mask in real life for being normally know as "the nice guy".

Sure, on a PvP-server you are both, the hunter and the hunted. Just some seem to prefer to hunt mice with a shotgun while others take on lions with thier bare hands. ;-)
I try not to say anything on a forum that I wouldn't say in person, because I'd rather just be 'me' when I'm talking to people. I don't trash talk to people in games either. But I don't see ganking as abusive or nasty at all. Killing other players irrespective of character level is just part of the fun and is the reason why PvP servers exist. If people don't like it when someone kills their character they shouldn't play on a PvP server. I play on PvE servers these days because life is easier when you're trying to get quests done.

I used to play Dark Souls quite a lot, and the PvP community in that game had a whole thing about 'honour' and what was considered acceptable during fights. I took a 'I will do whatever I can to ensure that I live and you die' approach, which earned me a few irate messages I just found it amusing more than anything else.

What cracks me up is that two of my friends who are Mensa members and my (ex) wife who has a PH D from Duke (on a fulbright scholarship), actually do the opposite. They "dumb down" however it is that they are communicating in order to avoid being accused of "tying to sound smart" and not alienate (was going to use ostracize) people from conversation.

17 pages of salt. I love it!

If I come back to wow, I'll definitely turn on the pvp. That's why I played on pvp servers after all. Have some great memories from world pvp, especially during TBC.

I imagine those of you making comments such as:

''There's a special place in Hell for people like you, OP.''
''No, as I live a fufilling life.''
''It's not my fault they walk down a dark alley at night not expecting me to mug them. - OP''

And similar comments calling OP, and those that gank low levels bullies. I imagine you kind of people were in fact bullied at school, and live life as social introverts and social pariah's in the current day. I cannot fathom why you would be so outraged over what is quite literally HARMLESS fun on an online GAME. Some of you need to walk out ofd the house, and begin conversing and socialising with other people in person.

Even comments such as likening OP to a mugger, because he/she ganks lowbies is such hyperbole and cringe.

    Get a grip.

I will continue to kill lowbies if I pass them out in the world. Does it make me feel complete or like I'm worth more? Nah I'm just playing a game.

Any person I have met that's actually intelligent does the exact same. There's no REASON to try and sound smart, adding a bunch of big words and running in circles to try and sound superior only makes it more difficult to get your point across. Not to mention the whole bullshit psychological questions of nonsense that literally anyone can pull out of their ass, it actually only reminded me of "Vidyagames make you violent" argument, ganking lowbies in a videogame is absolutely nowhere near correlated to how a person acts in real life. While I don't really understand camping lowbies for fun, I can completely understand killing the opposite faction if they're near where you're passing. They're the opposite faction, shit like a random passing kill never actually BOTHERED me on a PvP server. It's part of the damn game. His argument came out a hilarious garbled mess that I had to read a couple times to understand to begin with. And normally I won't straight up call people out on forums, but it is so clear that he is in fact lying to make himself look better. Lying only makes you look like a fool.

You sociopath! Just kidding! I wish this forum had reputation points or up/down votes. I would upvote your post. I'll be killing lowbies and those who show up to defend them in just 1 hour from now.

It's fun for one person at the expense of another. You have a strange definition of "harmless" in this context.

I'm glad that people who don't want to participate will no longer randomly forced into PvP by other players. You shouldn't have to give Blizzard money to avoid PvP just because another player decides to harass you when you're trying to quest.

Personally I don't understand why people enjoy ganking low level players. It's not real PvP, you could be flying around killing random critters and battle pets and the gameplay would be exactly the same. The only difference is you're interrupting another person and preventing them from playing WoW, which I guess if you really hate WoW might feel satisfying.

You could just as easily be PvPing as a 110 on Argus instead of going back to Thrallmar, but whatever. Different people have different priorities I guess.

Incredibly silly decision by Blizzard in my opinion.
Having a warning message pop up when you pick a PvP server would've been a way better solution.
Here's what the warning message should say:
    1. The ratio of alliance/horde on the server
    2. Ganking/corpsecamping/griefing/whatever CAN happen on a PvP server
    3. If you want a relaxing leveling experience with no horde vs. alliance, consider picking a PvE server

This decision feels like just another Blizzard "quality of life"-fix to make this game even more singleplayer-like. I can already play through 99% of the game without typing a single word, now I can truly enjoy this game while in my own little safespace, while not typing a single word. Woohoo.

This sums up my thoughts to the T. I never enjoyed killing things that can't fight back or have no chance at winning. Low geared max level characters is one thing but lower level characters is not cool.

No one is forcing anyone in to PvP. If they are on a PvP server they fully know what they are getting into. If they are on a PvE server, they intentionally flagged for PvP.

No one forced them to flag on their PvE realm or roll on a PvP realm. That is their own choice and the fault lies with them (what ever the consequences are).

It's fairly simple. You gank a few lowbies and a few 110's show up to kill you. Then you call a few friends because you're now outnumbered. Then they call a bunch of their friends. Next thing you know you have a massive battle that lasts a hour or so.

A pro arena player could say the same for random BG's. When it comes down to it by definition, it is as a matter of fact, PvP.

Critters and battle pets do not call their bigger badder friends to avenge their death. Critters and battle pets do not send you funny in game hate mail.

On a PvP realm, this is what we do. We kill each other. On a PvE realm they deserve it for flagging.

You nailed it! Different strokes for different folks. I like pizza with black olives, mushrooms, and onions. People who like pizza with pineapple (besides being morally wrong and blasphemous) just have different taste.

So it's okay because you actually wanted to fight 110s? You could have just gone to any zone containing 110s. Do you go to pre-schools to beat up the kids there because you want to fight their parents? What a ridiculous way to deflect the fact that you aren't actually interested in a fair fight, lmao.

I wouldn't be surprised if that actually is a mechanic in pet battles. If you really get off on hate mail and group battles, you can get that from ganking people the same level as you. Unless you're not actually able to pull that off successfully for some reason. ;-)

I fight people on Argus and the Broken Isles too. I engage anything and everything I see. Want to know why? Because I play a 940 Blood DK. All the better to wind up people like you with.

    Ahh yes, it'll be glorious.
    Amen, brother.

BTW, my guild is asking " WHERE DO WE RESUB FOR CLASSIC?"

There's a whole lot of ex-Nostalrius raid guilds, such as mine, made up partly of individuals in their 30's and 40's who are all Vanilla veterans and have been playing mainly Vanilla and TBC and WOTLK (in private servers) alternatively, with breaks, for years now.

9/10 of my Nostalrius raid guild-mates, made up of vets such as me, will resub to play Classic.

It's gonna be one HELL of an experience. The world is gonna be a huge battlefield of such epic proportions as have never heretofore been seen in the game so far due to the technical limitations that existed back in 2005-2006.

Pentium 4's? 128 & 256MB RAM GPU's? DDR RAM? 512MB RAM PC's? With today's PC's, Classic world PvP in a large scale will be epic beyond belief.

    I can't wait to resub.

As long as you're not going out of your way to harass low level players and potentially turn them off from the game, more power to you. I enjoy PvP on Argus and the Broken Isles too.
