You said major bugs. Name me some. Major seems pretty serious.
We know they called it Vanilla.we don't know exactly what classic WoW will be
No they wouldn't.But, if all they were planning to do was release Classic Wow as-is, they could have it up and running tomorrow.
If they remaster the game, then it may do well. Otherwise, they might as well make it free-to-play.
I actually quit WoW almost 7 months ago and this I'm actually thinking about coming back to play.
I started way back at launch so I know what I'm in for but I don't think a lot of people who were asking for this even know what it was like and are in for a rude awakening.
I'll enjoy it since I've started to feel WoW has been going to the easy side with everything so boiled down.
I.E I know I'm in the very much so minority but I miss hunters having ammo and needing to craft it or buy lol.
This is basically /thread. Yes, for the first few months, probably 6 or so, Classic is going to be ridiculous. But there are so many factors that will turn people off, so the numbers will just start dropping. And once the truly dedicated get maxed out gear from whichever raid is current in whichever patch they decide to give us, they'll either stop playing or go back to live servers. Or once people realize there isn't anything 'new' to do, they'll do the same.
I'd bet money that within the first 3 months, close to half the people that started at launch won't even reach level 60. The nostalgia will wear of mighty fast once they realize how terrible leveling in classic was compared to live.
-They're going to slap down [insert notorious vanilla icecream shop here], with no compensation!
-They will never announce Classic servers!
-Barely anyone will even play Classic!
**You are here**
-Classic servers can't keep a huge number of people forever!
-Classic servers will never eclipse the beauty of modern WoW!
-They won't shut down retail servers!
You yourself just agreed that we don't know what WoW Classic will be. I can quote you if you like:
And yet...here you are now saying you know exactly what WoW Classic will be.
I said "could". But why would they not release it immediately? Why hold onto a finished product when the demand for it is as high as it is right now?No they wouldn't.
“The biggest communication problem is we do not listen to understand. We listen to reply,” Stephen Covey.
Or... people will get to 54 and realise there are no more quests and the only choice is to grind. So they will quit. The amount of miss information about what vanilla was really like leaves me to believe most people talking it up never even played it. Even the private servers never showed real vanilla WoW. There were a ton of quality of life changes done. I hope blizzard doesn't do that. I hope they give everyone the exact vanilla WoW I had. Because everyone will quit and they can go back to focusing on current WoW.
Vanilla WoW was amazing for its time but utterly terrible compared to today's standards.
Aye mate
Yea.. doubt that.. I think you overestimate how many people give 2 shits about vanilla. I for one could care less about ever seeing that content again and know there are many more that feel the same way.
My ONLY reason for doing a character on classic is if some of the items that were removed from vanilla can be re obtained for transmog (Misplaced Servo Arm), and even then still not 100% sure even that would be enough.
I predicted:
Launch 12 Million
Thereafter much, much less, but still in the 1-2M range
It will also be one of the options to bridge 'lull' periods in 'Modern' WoW
Long term: Who knows. It will depend on how they interpret numbers and how handle it (new Classic xpacs etc). A completely new Classic Lineage WoW MMO could be at least as big as 'Modern' WoW.
I can't imagine many will play it past the first couple weeks.
I'll probably very casually play it and I'd imagine many others are in the same boat.
I'm sure it will be mostly full of toxic, elitist, no lifers a couple months after release. They get to feel special again! So exciting for them!
I remember grinding out those levels since there wasn't anymore quest... fun times lol.
So many people have no idea what they are in for.
I would put money down they think it's like current WoW without the Outland portal there.
I'm still going to have a go at it sounds like a blast going back to the roots.
I don't see it as being overly popular. I may not even bother with it.

Yea, i think the numbers will be well over Wotlk - Cata numbers. I wonder if they will tell us the exact number...
Not a single person I know will even install classic.
So huge, that even when they had private servers for FREE they had a fraction of the playerbase of Retail.

90% of the people I still know playing WoW and in my Guild have been around since Classic and early TBC. People underestimate how many Vanilla players that give Zero shits about Vanilla servers exist.

AS someone that played on Frostmourne OCE when WOD Dropped, I had maybe 1hrs of inconvenience in the entire first Week of WoD. "practically unplayable" is some serious overexaggeration.

There sheer amount of times I fell through the World in Vanilla alone is more than the amount of bugs I experienced overall between Wrath and Legion.
