Exclamation New Steven Spielberg movie including Blizzard IPs

Just saw the new 2018 motion picture trailer for “Ready Player One” from Steven Spielberg as Director.

I couldn’t believe it as I was seen this:

    https://youtu.be/h3rdqgO-HLQ

It’s an analysis of the trailer.

    What is this all about?

Its called Ready Player One and it is based off of a really entertaining book stock full of pop culture references and 80s nostalgia.

The sci-fi novel "Ready Player One" (by Ernest Cline) has a bunch of references in it from games and pop culture media dating as far back as the first games. It also includes some "newer" (new being in 2011, since it was released then) game references like World of Warcraft and others (Azeroth is mentioned as one of the many worlds).

They are probably just putting more up-to-date references in the move so it seems even more modern.

I would suggest any gamer to give this novel a chance, since it's pretty good and not too long.

The book has a lot of chunibyo as the Japanese say. It's a YA novel and all the bad guy adults are idiots who are easily duped by teenagers.

I read it and give it like a 7/10. I didn't dislike it.

If you are not born in 1970 then the book is not for ou, you wouldn't understand.

This is correct. This movie, and the book, was nothing but an 80's wikipedia page with amateur prose put in between.

Overwatch is pushing eSports so fucking hard, I wonder how much they paid to have Tracer put into the movie.

I was born in '99 and understood most of it, did some extra research on the few references I didn't understand.

Where he lives in the movie reminded me of Midgar in FF7 for some reason.

It's a pretty decent book, I enjoyed it. Movies tend to suck though, so I'm wary.

It looks like a movie feeding off nostalgia and desperately using geek culture references to sell

Calm down, sparky. It's based off of a Young Adult novel.

Putting Tracer smack dab in the middle of a frame next to the likes of Chun-li is fucking painful, though. Yeah man, Overwatch sure has the cultural staying power of Street Fighters, it's totally not on a massive decline or anything.

I've heard the book is basically to 80s culture what Twilight was to vampires.
