What will happen when they get to stay home? Will there be treatment, medication or psycology meetings or are they just saying they have a disorder and that's it. Seems like alot of people will take advantage of this to stay home and play videogames all day everyday.

Wonder how long untill they add smartphone addiction to that list.
Where does it say you can just sit home and play everyday, collect money and not be bothered by government about it? Which mental health conditions or disorders actually let you just stay at home, and not attempt to get jobs or anything? As I understand, disability is pretty hard to get.

I really hope they don't come for the memes next.

Please, leave my precious memes alone. It isn't a disorder to want to find dank memes every day.

Unlike the lot I don't mock the condition, I think it is better to be understanding, although personally I never been addicted to video games, I would imagine like any other addiction it can be a seriously condition.

Does this mean we'll start seeing "XYZ is a drug, alcohol, and video game free employer" pop up in employee handbooks?

Well addiction and disorder is different. The mental health community considers something to be a disorder when it adversely impacts social, occupational, educational functioning.

Psychologists differ on the definition of an addiction. The prevailing sentiment was that behavioral "addictions" like gambling should not be considered addictions because chemical addictions create a dependency in the brain that behavioral addictions do not. But the current neuroscience research coming out (which is very new) indicates that for gambling use disorder at least, neurological response mimics those with cocaine addiction.

My opinion is that more behavioral addictions will be classified as true addictons at some point, pending more research.
You know how I know you have trouble reading? I actually cited an article where the World Health Organization was already classifying this as a disorder. They do however, have an agenda, and if you go on to read there are typically other underlying issue not caused by or related to video games at all, that contribute to addictive behavior... but you know... reading.

Please don't include me in this any further, I have no interest in continuing an argument from over a week ago. If you persist I will report you for harassment.

can you fish from the age of 3 and do it anywhere at any time and it literally takes no energy to do?

Where I live? Pretty much yes. I actually have Pictures of myself Fishing as a Kid like 50m from the front of my house.

But what does that have to do with anything? You can draw pictures or read books or Watch TV or Sport any time with no energy either, yet I wouldn't tell someone who read books everyday that they had a disorder.

In the same place as I just mentioned? Yeah. Pretty easily. Tropical regions are fairly nice even in Winter.

I would say if people were that addicted to fishing then yeah they should probably make a mental diagnosis for it.

But there is nothing about those scenarios that is even really "that addictive" otherwise anything people enjoy could be considered Addictive.

I've seen crowds of 1000's of people standing in the Rain in Winter just watching Sport?

Why do you have that as a question? are you not sure that's what you've seen? It's obvious we aren't going to agree with the issue and you're going to continually find reasons why obviously unhealthy things are completely healthy.

That thread is completely relevant to this one and a thread from less than a week ago isn't an old thread. It is also not "harassment" to bring up that thread here.

I also have excellent recall of that thread and what was discussed and you kept posting information that was easily proven to be false in order to make a nonexistent point. I hope that instead of becoming defensive and digging your heels in by continually posting false information that you simply admit being wrong in future threads. We are all wrong sometimes and your belligerence in the face of being wrong indicates that you have some personal work to do in this regard.

    Have a nice day.
