Our planet is a miraculous little blue sphere in an endless, cold and inhospitable universe. When you realize everything that needed to happen in order to make human life possible, it's absolutely mind boggling. From the formation of the solar system and our planet all the way to the evolution of homo sapiens and everything in between, including all the conditions required to provide a safe and stable environment and protect us from the sun and outer space (didn't go well for Mars and Venus). As far was we know, earth is still a unique place and earthen life is unique, resilient as it may be.
I know they keep finding exoplanets. Promising ones as well. In fact, I believe there's alien life out there. I just think it's probably super rare. Especially advanced, intelligent life. We could be among the most advanced life in the universe. Who knows?
But let's assume there are advanced space faring aliens. I think only those aliens who are so ultra advanced that they've found a way to zip zap across the universe like it's nothing, would ever visit us. Just to toy with us and laugh at us. And that's simply extremely unlikely, if not impossible. Otherwise, it doesn't make any sense at all for aliens millions of lightyears away to spend an incredible amount of effort and time in trying to reach us. And for what purpose exactly?
So yes, I am skeptical and so should everyone be until proof hits you right in the fucking face.
