Not a whine thread, honest question. What does the Ret bring?
More utility, what else?

Ret is pretty much yellow arms warrior anyway
Bop and LoH I guess
any ret, that ever made a war alt, will always tell you it was the best day of their life and rerolls... think that speaks for itself but otherwise: buble is fun, lore is better for paladins and erm, ye I think that's about it. I play ret since vanilla, tried war but I couldnt reroll cause of achievements, vanity items etc. Also I missed my bubled and freedom, even tho they are instantly removed anyways in pvp.
Uhm...
what?
So you basically say a Ret has more utility (which is true) but the same, or nearly the same DPS.
Why playing a Warrior over a Ret?
Ask what does a Warrior bring to the table a ret doesn't, I can't think of anything. Warriors have been striped off pretty much everything.
Choice? Aesthetic reasons? Rotation is better? I'm sure there are lots of reasons for it.
My warrior is Fury, because TG is awesome. My Pally's offspec is Ret, and I like the way it...well, 'flows'. Can't really think what else to call it. The rotation and the animations of Ret are fun to watch. Same reason TG is awesome, it's freaking sweet seeing those two huge weapons swinging around.
I have only played with an AOE focused ret in legion so far, but everything seems a little slow compared to the warrior, fury at least. Like a steam locomotive, slow and steady, chugga chugga. Although I love the artifact and the paladin lore, I don't like to play it as much in Legion as I used to. I don't like the sounds at all, and the animations are worse. Just doesn't feel like you're wielding much power or something like that.
Mother pus bucket!
So you ask a question to which you apparently know the answer already? Seems like a pointless thread.
Survivability - Ret
Mobility - Warrior
I think ret has better burst thanks to Crusade, not I’m not sure since I don’t record DPS.
So it comes down to:
Do I want to have more stuff I can play with, or do I want to contribute to the group.
Execute is ... a problem. Because since it is so powerful, but the damage during the course of the whole fight has to be in line with other DPS, you do less dps before and more dps after 20% both health.
So in short execute is not something that gives you extra dps, your dps is just backloaded.
In terms of mobility:
You have one/two charge(s) and one Leap. That's it.
As a Pally you have one/two sprints and a bubble you can use to not having to move out of something.
So much more mobility is not present as a Warrior.
Yes you have 2 DPS specs but most of the time one is extremely inferior and thus you are left with one.
Personally with the removal of basically every utility Warrios had, I can't see a reason to not play paladin. You even have the same proc and colossus smash mechanique but without being rage starved.
Do you love RNG? Play a Warrior.
Paladins have massive damage spikes on cooldown, but they tend to be more consistent and predicatble otherwise.
Ret is just a budget warrior. Sure you have bop/bubble but most fights now dont require immunities and even if they do your going to have a holy pally for bops and other immunities in any decent raid comp anyway. Warrior has mobility, better dps, better burst aoe, execute, two dps specs that are both higher across logs than ret.
The ONLY reasons I can think of is if you somehow enjoy ret, which feels like its missing a button this expansion, or if you have no holy pally and really need the immunities, or want to have a class that can OS every role.
For me it's the ability to go healing spec when needed/wanted in the current designs, and I do have 110 paladin and warrior.
Ret Paladin is just barely behind arms.
Fury is inflated for certain bosses.
Likewise mobility is a bit over rated and not near as important as people make it out to be. Its good in bursts which ret does just fine. Ret is in general a much safer choice with more reliable DPS and helpfulness.
I would generally choose a Ret of a Warrior and my main's a warrior.

World needs more Goblin Warriors https://i.imgur.com/WKs8aJA.jpg
Warriors mobility is far greater than rets. Pally survivabimity is higher due to cheap I win buttons.

Which choices?
One of them always vastly outperforms the other one...
I'd go with:
- lore (yes, that's why i rolled pally in the 1st place)
- visuals
- survivability (most of the time a ret pally will be the last man standing when something goes wrong in the raid)
- utility (i love being fought over by our healers on who gets BoW)
I love the "holy avenger" fantasy archetype, and will play a paladin regardless of nerfs, idiotic changes, or "worse thans".
Well to be honest you cant compare Ret to Warrior in any means the rotation is so different. Als the playstyle is completely diff. I suppose you want to compare Arms with Ret because Fury with TG is somewhat different league
Well I play both classes around 940 il and the truth is that with ret you have more def cds and raid utility and Warrior has less in these terms. To make this short - Warr is a porn at Execution phase the sound of Execute is like a hymn to me for many years now Ret has an Uber Winged angel Burst. SO basically choose what u like Or play both like me.
