    Is Ulduar overrated?

I think so. I don't get why people here put it on such a high pedestal. It was a great raid, don't get me wrong. At the time it was arguably the best raid released. But there have been several better raids since then. (ICC, SoO, BWD, ToT, BRF, Nighthold)

I think a big part of why it's held in such high regard is because it was sanwiched in between a rehashed raid and a bad raid

SoO, BWD and BRF better? Lolwat?

MAYBE AQ40/BT/SSC were better or as good.

Opinions are opinions. People like to be nostalgic and look back at old raids when they were considered the very best. Personally my favourite raid was BRF. So many fun fights and it had some amazing sets.

Opinions are opinions but I find Ulduar better than Blackwing Descent.

My brother raided back in vanilla and the raiding community in general did not like AQ40 when it was current content due to it's layout, bugged bosses, amongst other things.

It had a great visual style, both the environments and gear. You had unique and varied fight mechanics. The hard modes, which gave better loot, weren't just a switch you flipped on the UI.
I'm hoping you are just trolling, but Ulduar is not overrated.

yes, the only reason i give it an above avg rating is how you trigger hard modes.

Ulduar was, and is, one of the best raids Blizzard has come out with for WoW.

AQ40 is imho one of the best, most true raids of all. You are in a big big insect hive. And it feels like that. Then it merges with a dark egypt style which finally merges perfectly into H.P. lovecrafts c'thulu spin off. Sorry, but no - no matter what your brother told you about the bugged bosses this raid was freaking epic.

Why does everyone with an unpopular opinion get accused of trolling? If I was going to troll I'd say it's the worst raid ever created

never played wotlk but the timewalking one was kind of easy and underwhelming

Ulduar was awesome. But not as awesome as firelands. (I enjoyed firelands more than any raid because our guild was so fucking amazing back then. Imagine having 25 perfect ass people doing perfect ass raiding consistently) It was heavenly soooooo much fun.

SoO was and still is pretty good of a raid.
Now if we talk about DS, there is where we slowly back off.

It's definitely a case of, had to be there. It a HUGE departure from the raids that came before it.

Not my favorite raid but it's cool.
Overrated? Probably not. It's definitely loved A LOT by the masses but they all have their reasons.
My personal favorite is Throne of Thunder but I get why people love Ulduar so much.

Maybe that's the way people remember it now, but people did not feel that way during vanilla. The ugly sets didn't help matters either. If it was such a good raid back then, people wouldn't have been trying to manipulate the game files to skip all the way to the last boss.

It was and is the best raid ever because of immersive hard modes that was both the first and last time it was seen in this game.

Icecrown Citadel was an absolute bastard to raid. It was great but it had a lot of hard work and mechanics that could be very punishing on certain players just slipped. Lich King by far was just a headache for it. I think after so many mount runs it's lost that shimmer though I will always love Marrowgar.

I'm intrigued how Throne of Thunder you put is a better raid, yet basically it was a copy of Ulduar. Right down to the bonus boss that was a Titanic descend. Other raids you mentioned have again recycled themes that turn people off.
Vanilla raids had such a smaller margin of players for people to enjoy.
TBC raids had a larger player base but seeing those bosses for people to enjoy was beyond a fair chunk.
ICC was just a pain in the arse for me, mount runs have swashed it.
ToGC was at times, not much of a "raid" since it was pretty much an arena.
    BWD is basically BWL.
FL was like MC and so on.
SoO is basically Pandaria and Orgrimmar and was saturated themes at the time of its arrival. In fact probably all raids here have some element reused constantly.
I think, like Legion raids might be loved as well but the problem with those is the story:
Emerald Nightmare is something people are in a way use to again, Satyrs and naughty things have been around since Vanilla,
    Nighthold was nice, a pain to travel at times but also in Suramar that many disliked and;
Both Tomb and Antorus are too recent to be nostalgic.

Ulduar has such great love because when you go in there, you feel like you're there for a reason but at the same time, you're trespassing on shit that's WAY out of your league. It's big and huge as soon as you step in and you feel a sense of awe that is very much lacking in numerous of raids. It captured people's imagination which I think could be said for places like ToT. Alternatively, hard modes. That captured people's minds and I think it's a shame they ultimately jacked it in. It added favour and that extra pinch people were after. You don't need Mythic raiding to do it, keep it to Heroic and have those harder modes that you activate that make you want to shiver in fear but yelp in joy when you kick it's ass.

I think Ulduar was the best raid in Wrath. The trend, for me, over WoW's life span seems to be the mid tier raids (Ulduar, Firelands, ToT etc) are more interesting than the intro tier and the final tier.
