Joe Biden was the heir apparent and he should've just thrown his hat in the ring to say a big FU to Hillary and her ego in thinking she shouldve been the candidate and Joe not challenging her was a big mistake.

Joe Biden would've crushed Trump in his home state of Pennsylvania and would've played well in the rust belt the place where Hillary lost.

Hillary shouldve gotten the clue when she lost to Obama and when she had all that baggage and the dems shouldve come all out and say Joe is our man but they didnt and this is where we ended up!

Your quoted comments certainly do not indicate that Democrats are not forward looking. There is roughly 6 months before any serious conversation is going to be made for the next POTUS election. The focus on Congress is key at the moment and current, forward looking, activities are on point: near term goal - Democrat control of the two chambers of Congress. The long term forward looking goal is replacing Trump.

He remains popular among environmental focused voters, and I think most of the mainstream Democratic party basically just forgot about him.

I'd be interested to see current polling on Al Gore.

Side note: Al Gore is 70 this year. He will be 72 in 2020. That's younger than Biden, Pelosi, Clinton, Sanders, but probably still not young enough.

No Democratic president over 57 has taken office since before Woodrow Wilson. Only 3 over 52 have taken office in that time - Wilson (57), Truman (55), and LBJ (55). Worth noting is that Truman and LBJ were both VPs older than their respective presidents.

Looking at the late 40s early 50s aged players in the DNC right now, we see: not a whole lot. Murphy (CT), Gillibrand (NY), Harris (CA), and Booker (NJ) are the only ones that jump out at me, and I don't think any of them have the national clout required to mount an effective campaign, at least not without the party leadership backing them.

Allegedly he's considering a run in 2020. I kind of hope the Dems field a better candidate, but you can be sure as shit he'll get my vote over Trump any day of the week.

I really like Biden. I think he's a stellar statesman.

I also think he's not quite of the temperament we need in the White House. Of course we have Trump so I don't know how much it matters anymore.

I'm fully opposed to him running in 2020. For two primary reasons. 1) He's too linked to Obama and Hillary and political dynasties and the establishment blah blah blah. I don't want to sit through 2 years of hearing how Biden is just a path to getting Hillary in power.

2) He's too old. Period.

I know the death of his son effected him and his decision but i still feel he made the wrong decision by not challenging Hillary and even though Biden has made alot of gaffes there isnt many skeletons in his closet and he certainly can debate.

20/20 hindsight and everyone thinks he should have ran. However, no one thought Trump would win. And by the time it started looking really bleak, it was too late for Biden to do anything.

We'll see if he takes a shot at it for 2020. He's one of the few babyboomers I would ever vote for in an election.
